Abstract: A device, system, and method reduce a power usage while an activity state is detected. The method is performed at a device that establish a network connection to a first network via first cells and to a second network via second cells. The device is connected to the first network via a first cell of the first cells. The method includes determining an activity state or a non-activity state associated with the device. The method includes measuring a quality of the network connection via the first cell. When the activity state is determined and when the quality is at least a predetermined threshold, the method includes setting a first priority and a first scanning pace for the first cell and a second priority and a second scanning pace for other ones of the first cells and the second cells.

Abstract: A device, system, and method enhances battery performance on a user equipment. The user equipment includes a rechargeable battery, a charging circuit, and a processor. The charging circuit controls a recharging operation for the rechargeable battery. The processor determines an activity condition and a charge condition, the activity condition based on a foreground activity running on the user equipment, the charge condition based on a charge capacity of the rechargeable battery being above a capacity threshold. The processor selects a first charging rate at which the charging circuit recharges the rechargeable battery when at least one of the activity condition and the charge condition is absent. The processor selects a second charging rate when the activity condition and the charge condition are present, the second charging rate being less than the first charging rate.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to managing access to 5G cellular baseband resources for 5G-capable wireless devices. A wireless device can monitor application workloads by analyzing communication network performance requirements for a given application in-use or launching for future use along with system-level indications of overall device usage, battery level, and mobility status to determine whether access to 5G cellular baseband resources is recommended for an application. A 5G cellular baseband resource recommendation is provided for an application indicating a level of bandwidth in current use or expected for future use as well as a confidence metric in the bandwidth level indication. The 5G cellular baseband resource recommendation is used with additional device criteria to determine whether access to one or more 5G radio frequency bands is allowed.

A user equipment (UE) in a wireless network may determine bandwidth part (BWP) configurations for a carrier of a primary secondary cell (PSCell) of an SCG for dual connectivity (DC). The UE may move between an SCG activation state and an SCG deactivation state based on the BWP configurations. SCG deactivation modeling may be based on a separate BWP configuration or may be modeled via a separate configuration in radio resource control (RRC) that is applicable to the BWPs in a serving cell.

Abstract: A device and method for a user equipment (UE) to implement power savings mechanisms when operating within a significant location. The UE identifies that the UE is at a significant location. The significant location is a location relative to a currently camped cell of a network. At a first time and at the significant location, the UE performs a type of operation related to the network connection. The UE stores information corresponding to the performance of the type of operation at the first time in a profile associated with the significant location. At a second time and at the significant location, the UE performs the type of operation related to the network connection. The performance of the type of operation at the second time is modified based on the information stored in the profile associated with the significant location.

Abstract: Methods related to an inactive state of a user equipment (UE). In one example, when an amount of data in an uplink buffer is less than a threshold, the data is sent to the network while remaining in the inactive state. In another example, when reselecting to a different cell, the UE attempts to reselect to the different cell and remain in the inactive state. When transitioning to a connected state at the reselected cell, the UE sends a resume request including an identification of the first cell. In another example, when a high priority or a background PLMN search is performed in the inactive state, the results are cached and implemented the earlier of when a timer expires or the UE enters an idle state. In another example, a cell reselection criteria is altered in the inactive state to make it less likely that a cell reselection will occur.

Abstract: A device and method for generating a user equipment (UE) capability information message. In a first embodiment, a UE receives a request for the radio access capabilities of the UE and a size limit indication for a message to be generated by the UE that includes the radio access capabilities. The UE generates the message that includes the radio access capabilities based on the size limit then transmits the message to the network. In a second embodiment, a UE receives a request for the radio access capabilities of the UE. The UE also receives a segment limit indication and a size limit indication for a message to be generated by the UE that includes the radio access capabilities. The UE generates the message where the message includes a plurality of segments based on the segment limit. Subsequently, the UE transmits the message to the network.
