摘要: Embodiments of the invention relate to creating an identical copy of a source tape cartridge. One aspect of the invention includes copying data contents of a source data storage tape cartridge to a destination data storage tape cartridge. The tape of the source cartridge being formatted by a file system and including at least one metadata block containing data associated with the file system. Data blocks are read from the tape of the source cartridge to a memory buffer, thereby buffering the data blocks. Whether the data blocks read are file system metadata blocks and whether the file system metadata blocks include cartridge-specific and/or cartridge-dependent content is determined. The content is adapted to the destination cartridge, thereby creating consistent file system metadata on the tape of the destination cartridge. The buffered data blocks are written to the tape of the destination cartridge, thereby creating a file system on the tape of the destination cartridge that is a physical copy of both the file system and data contents on the tape of the source cartridge, and a consistent file system on the tape of the destination cartridge.

摘要: A system according to one embodiment includes a tape cartridge, the tape cartridge comprising: a housing; a magnetic recording tape in the housing; and a non-tape nonvolatile memory coupled to the housing, the nonvolatile memory being for storing therein an index comprising file system information for a plurality of files stored on the magnetic recording tape. A method for storing data on a tape cartridge according to one embodiment includes writing a plurality of files to a magnetic recording tape of a tape cartridge; and writing an index to a non-tape nonvolatile memory of the tape cartridge, the index including information about locations of data of the plurality of files on the magnetic recording tape.

摘要: The invention relates to an avalanche photodiode (1) for detecting radiation, including a semiconductor substrate (11), an upper diode layer (15), an oppositely doped, laterally delimited lower diode layer (16), an avalanche region situated between the upper diode layer (15) and the lower diode layer (16), wherein the radiation to be detected triggers an avalanche breakdown in the avalanche region, and also including a contact-making layer (12) at the underside (10) of the semiconductor substrate (11), a laterally delimited quenching resistance layer (18) arranged in the semiconductor substrate (11) between the lower diode layer (16) and the contact-making layer (12), wherein the quenching resistance layer (18) quenches the radiation-generated avalanche breakdown in the avalanche region, and also including a depletion electrode (15) arranged laterally alongside the laterally delimited lower diode layer (16), such that the depletion electrode (15) depletes the semiconductor substrate (11) laterally alongside the laterally delimited lower diode layer (16), while the quenching resistance layer (18) is screened from the depletion electrode (15) by the lower diode layer (16) and is therefore not depleted.
