    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a water-soluble copolymer comprising the step of reacting a monomer (a) of formula (I), (1) wherein Q1, Q2, R1 to R7and X have the meaning as indicated in the description and claims with at least one monoethylenically unsaturated, anionic monomer (b), preferably representing a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer comprising at least one carboxy, phosphonate or sulfonate group and salts thereof, preferably their ammonium salts or alkaline-earth metal salts or alkali metal salts; and at least one monoethylenically unsaturated, non-ionic monomer (c). The present invention further relates to a copolymer obtainable by said process and its use in enhanced oil recovery (EOR), a formulation comprising said copolymer and a method of oil production uses said formulation.

    Abstract: The use of an organic compound as cleavable additive, preferably as cleavable surfactant, in the modification and/or treatment of at least one surface of a semiconductor substrate is described. Moreover, it is described a method of making a semiconductor substrate, comprising contacting at least one surface thereof with an organic compound, or with a composition comprising it, to treat or modify said surface, cleaving said organic compound into a set of fragments and removing said set of fragments from the contacted surface. More in particular, a method of cleaning or rinsing a semiconductor substrate or an intermediate semiconductor substrate is described. In addition, a compound is described which is suitable for the uses and methods pointed out above and which preferably is a cleavable surfactant.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing hydrophobically associating macromonomers M and to the novel macromonomers prepared by means of the process according to the invention. The macromonomers M comprise a copolymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated group and a polyether structure in block form, the latter consisting of a polyethyleneoxy block and a hydrophobic polyalkyleneoxy block consisting of alkyleneoxy units having at least 4 carbon atoms. Optionally, the macromonomers M may have a terminal polyethyleneoxy block. The macromonomers prepared by the process according to the invention are suitable for reaction with further monomers, especially with acrylamide, to give a water-soluble, hydrophobically associating copolymer.
