Abstract: The invention relates to aqueous polymer dispersions comprising polymerized units issued from the following monomers with related weight proportions based on 100 parts of weight of a)+b): a) 50 to 90% of a monoethylenically unsaturated non-ionic monomer, b) 10 to 50% of vinyl aromatic monomer or methyl methacrylate, c) 1 to 5% of a hydroxy-containing (meth)acrylate, d) 0.1 to 3% of acid monomer selected from d1) acid monomer selected from monocarboxylic or dicarboxylic acid monomers and d2) acid monomer selected from phosphorous-based or sulfur-based strong acid monomers or/and their salts, or from the mixtures of d1) and d2), e) 0.001 to 0.5% of chain transfer agent, and f) 0 to 1% one of internal crosslinker bearing at least two copolymerisable ethylenic unsaturations, the polymer having a Tg measured by DSC from −30 to 0° C. and a gel content of 0 to 60%, formed during polymerization.

Abstract: A method for obtaining substituted alkyl(meth)acrylamide includes reaction between (meth)acrylic acid or an ester thereof, and a primary or a secondary alkylamine. At least one of the two is at least partially renewable and non-fossil. The substituted alkyl(meth)acrylamide can have a bio-sourced carbon content of between 5 wt % and 100 wt % relative to the total carbon weight in the substituted alkyl(meth)acrylamide. The bio-sourced carbon content can be measured according to the standard ASTM D6866-21 Method B.

Abstract: Provided is a quaternary ammonium surfmer and copolymers thereof. The surfmer may have the following general formula (I): N+—R1R2R3R4 (X−), where: R1 and R2 may independently be H or a C1-C3 alkyl, R3 may be a C19+ amidoalkyl group, R4 may be a C3-C6 alkyl having a terminal olefin double bond group, and X may be a halogen. Further provided is a method for synthesizing the quaternary ammonium surfmer, copolymers thereof, and a method for recovering hydrocarbons from a subterranean formation that may include injecting a treatment fluid comprising the quaternary ammonium surfmer or copolymers thereof into the subterranean formation.

Abstract: Synthesis of imidazolium-based poly(ionic liquid)s is disclosed. Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) slurries comprise abrasives; activator; oxidizing agent; additive comprising imidazolium-based poly(ionic liquid); and water. The use of the synthesized imidazolium-based poly(ionic liquid)s in the CMP slurries reduces dishing and erosion in highly selective tungsten slurries.

Abstract: A polyacrylamide-based AMPS (2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid) copolymer or terpolymer emulsion system may comprise 5-50% solid AMPS salt by weight of a polymer backbone in an emulsion polymerization, wherein use of solid AMPS salt reduces a total amount of water in the emulsion system. The polymer concentration may be above 35% by weight and the water concentration is below 31% by weight. Solid AMPS salt may be dissolved in acrylamide 50% solution, either with or without monomers, to control the total amount of water in an emulsion that may be formed, particularly to lower the water concentration. Use of solid AMPS salt dissolved in acrylamide 50% solution may introduce the AMPS monomer into an emulsion system without requiring addition of extra water. This may improve performance on the polymer backbone as well as the finished emulsion system.
