Abstract:
Alkyl pyridines are manufactured by reacting R-C(CH2OH)3 (a trimethylolalkane) with ammonia or an amine, preferably in the presence of a polar solvent (water) and an acid catalyst.
Abstract:
LIGHT FAST POLYURETHANE IONOMERS ARE PREPARED FROM THE USUAL STARTING MATERIALS FOR THE PREPARATION OF POLYURETHANES AND 2 - ALKYL - 2-DIALKYLAMINOMETHYL-1,3-PROPANE DIOLS AND QUATERNISING OR NEUTRALISING AGENTS. THE NOVEL POLYURETHANE IONOMERS MAY BE USED FROM THEIR SOLUTIONS OR AS AQUEOUS DISPERSIONS FOR COATING OR IMPREGNATING OF VARIOUS SUBSTRATES.
Abstract:
Thermoplastic polyurea powders and sedimenting aqueous solutions of the same wherein the powders have A. AN AVERAGE PARTICLE DIAMETER OF FROM 10 TO 1,000 Mu , B. A MELTING RANGE OF FROM 100* TO 180*C., c. a urea and, optionally, urethane group content of from 10 to 30% by weight, with the proviso that the urea group content is at least about 5%, and D. AN IONIC GROUP CONTENT OF FROM 0.01 TO 0.15 MILLIEQUIVALENTS PER GRAM; PREPARED BY REACTING (1) POLYURETHANES WHICH CONTAIN FREE NCO groups and ionic groups with (2) primary and/or secondary aliphatic diamines and/or dicarboxylic acid-bis-hydrazides at an NH to NCO ratio of from 0.1 to 0.95 and in the presence of water. The powders are useful for finishing textiles, for coatings, as binders or as auxiliary agents in the paper industry, and the like.
Abstract:
DIALKYLPYRIDINES ARE PREPARED BY REACTING AN OXETAN AND FROM 0.5 TO 10 MOLS OF AMMONIA, METHYLAMINE, DIMETHYLAMINE AND MIXTURES OF THE FOREGOING AT A TEMPERATURE OF FROM ABOUT 600*C.
Abstract:
Microporous sheets or molded articles, permeable to water vapor are prepared from sedimenting and redispersible aqueous polyurethanes. The dispersions are in microgel form, the particles having an average minimum diameter of from 2 to 500 microns, preferably 8 to 100 microns. A second component binds the microgel together without impairing the microporosity. The products of the invention are useful as artificial leather in the preparation of raincoats, handbags, belts, shoes, upholstery and also as vibration and sound-damping materials.
Abstract:
A process is provided for the production of stable aqueous polymer dispersions by subjecting vinyl monomers to radical emulsion polymerization in the presence of a stable aqueous dispersion of a high molecular weight polyurethane containing anionic groups.
