    The disclosure is of a multiple gas cell display panel which includes a sandwich of a central apertured plate and top and bottom cover plates, all of glass. The central plate includes apertures arranged in rows and columns which comprise the lightproducing cells of the display. The top and bottom plates are of glass and are rigid and the central plate is formed from a flexible strip of powdered glass which is cut to size, has the holes formed in it, and is then sealed in place between the top and bottom plates.

    Abstract: A display panel includes a layer of scanning cells, each including a scanning anode and a scanning cathode, and a layer of display cells arrayed adjacent to the layer of scanning cells so that the scanning cells communicate with and are sources of excited particles for the display cells. According to the invention, the cells and electrodes are arrayed so that each scanning cell communicates with and provides excited particles for more than one display cell.

    Abstract: A display panel includes a first plate having slots for receiving anode electrodes and a surface for supporting cathode electrodes for operation with said anode electrodes. A cover plate covers the electrode assembly, with gas-filled spaces being provided, above each cathode, in which cathode glow can be generated facing a viewer. The anode electrodes are hidden from view and do not obstruct the cathode glow. The slots can also be used to provide communication of excited particles between adjacent anodes to facilitate the firing of adjacent cells.
