摘要: A housing (10) defines a liquid treatment chamber (12). The chamber (12) has entrance and exit openings (16, 18) each closed by a pair of co-operating path defining rollers (20), rotatable about a horizontal axis (26) and in contact with each other to form a nip (22) through which a material transport path segment (24) extends. Sealing means (28) seal the path defining rollers (20) to the housing (10). A drip tray (30) is so shaped and positioned as to collect treatment liquid dripping from the roller (20), both when the material path segment (24) is vertical and when it is horizontal. The vessel may be connected in a closed manner to one or more further treatment vessels to constitute a apparatus for processing photographic material. The vessel can be successfully used in either orientation.

摘要: An imaging element (15, 122) comprising on a lithographic base at least one radiation sensitive or heat-sensitive layer composition, is image-wise exposed to radiation or heat. The composition is such that when exposed and developed, a lithographic surface is formed. The exposed imaging element is then passed through a closed treatment cell (26, 64, 66) in a processing apparatus in which the imaging element is brought into contact with a single developing fluid (44, 124). The closed treatment cell (26; 64, 66) comprises a housing (24; 114) having an entrance (28; 116) and an exit (30; 118) each closed by a path-defining roller (32; 128) in contact with a reaction surface (33; 130) to form a nip (34; 136) therebetween, through which the plate path (36; 72) extends. Sealing means (38; 138, 139) seal each path-defining roller (32; 128) to the housing. Evaporation, oxidation and carbonization of the treatment liquid is significantly reduced and quality control of the plate is possible before mounting on a printing machine.

摘要: A processing apparatus comprises at least one wet processing station followed by a dryer in which wet sheet material comes into contact with heated drying air. Sheet material is fed over a static support member which supports the sheet material during drying. A drying unit is positioned opposite to and extending across the support member in a transverse direction, thereby to define a drying space between the support member and the drying unit. Drying air is fed to the drying unit to pass out through a drying air exit into the drying space. The support member includes a plurality of openings to allow drying air to pass therethrough, to ensure that the air flow is substantially the same whether a sheet of photographic material is positioned on the support member or not, while minimising the generation of turbulence.

摘要: The thermal treatment unit comprises a housing (12) having an inlet (14) and an outlet (16) for the imaging element so positioned as to define a path (18) through the housing (12). A continuous surface (20), formed of heat conductive material, is positioned on one side of the path (18). Drive means (22) move the continuous surface (20) in synchronism with the imaging element (10) as it passes through the housing (12). The imaging element (10) is urged into heat conductive contact with the continuous surface (20) and a heat source (26) is provided on the far side of the continuous surface from the path. A more even transfer of heat to the imaging element (10) is thereby achieved.

摘要: An apparatus for the wet processing of photographic sheet material comprises at least one treatment vessel (12, 12', 12") having upper and lower openings (17, 18). One of the openings constitutes a sheet material inlet and the other of the openings constitutes a sheet material outlet. A substantially vertical sheet material path (20) through the vessel is defined by the inlet and outlet and by a path-defining rotatable roller (28) biased towards a reaction surface (30) to form a roller nip (36) there-between through which the sheet material path extends. The path-defining roller (28) is in sealing contact along its length, with a rotatable sealing member (38). The reaction surface is preferably a further path-defining roller. The sealing of one vessel from the next and of the path-defining roller to the housing of the associated vessel is thereby achieved in a simple and reliable manner.

摘要: The vessel (10) comprises a housing (12) having openings (14, 16) closed by pairs of rotatable path-defining rollers (18, 20, 22, 24) through which a sheet material path (30) extends. Liquid level control means (38) define a dynamic liquid level (L) in the treatment chamber (32) above the sheet material path (30). A buffer comprises one or more drip chambers (34, 36) positioned to receive liquid escaping from the treatment chamber (32) through the nips (26, 28) and between the rotatable path-defining rollers (18, 20, 22, 24) and the housing (12). The buffer has a maximum total volume such that a static liquid level (S) is established below the sheet material path (30), without the buffer overflowing. In a non-operative condition, treatment liquid, which escapes through the nips and between the path-defining rollers and the housing, is all retained in the buffer, for later re-use as desired.

摘要: In a digital printer the elements involved directly in the print process, which are located on a shuttle assembly are mounted upon a metrological frame which is isolated from the base frame by vibration dampers. Because the elements of the shuttle drive systems, such as a belt drive system having a motor and pulleys, are mounted upon the base frame, the drive and reaction forces from the motor drive systems are led to the base frame while the shuttles assembly is guided by the force-free, vibration free metrological frame. This allows for higher accuracy during printing as the metrological frame serves as a vibration free reference element.

摘要: A digital printer includes a digital printing unit for digital printing an image onto a printing substrate during relative movement between a print head and the printing substrate, and a printing table for holding the printing substrate during the digital printing. The printing table is firmly fixed to the digital printing unit during the digital printing of the image onto the printing substrate and is released from the digital printing unit prior to and after the digital printing of the image onto the printing substrate. The printing table may be moved between a printing position, in which it is firmly fixed to the digital printing unit, and a printing substrate feeding position, in which it supports feeding and removing of the printing substrate from the printing table.

摘要: To avoid possible damaging collisions of a printhead with small receiver defects and other obstacles in a digital printer using a printhead mounted on a scanning shuttle for recording an image on a receiver while scanning along the receiver, a method using the following steps is used:—sensing for possible obstacles having a size smaller and larger than the inkjet head-receiver clearance distance in an area of the receiver to be scanned over by the printhead using a sensor system mounted on the scanning shuttle,—avoiding a collision of the printhead with the obstacle when an obstacle is sensed. Preferably an evaluation step is include to evaluate is a detected obstacle is evaluated to be potentially damaging. A system for using the steps is also disclosed.
