    Abstract: The present invention provides a composition comprising a biologically pure culture of a Paenibacillus sp. strain or a cell-free preparation thereof comprising a fusaricidin and a tridecaptin; wherein the fusaricidin is produced with a fusaricidin synthetase gene of fusA encoded by a DNA sequence exhibiting at least 90.5% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 3; and the tridecaptin is produced with a nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) gene of triE encoded by a DNA sequence exhibiting at least 90.0% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 7. Also provided are methods of treating an agricultural plant to control a disease and methods of increasing the vigor and/or crop yield of an agricultural plant with the disclosed compositions.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising a biologically pure culture of a fungicidal Paenibacillus sp. strain comprising a variant fusaricidin synthetase lacking a functional adenylation domain in the third module. The present invention also provides a composition comprising a biologically pure culture of a fungicidal Paenibacillus sp. strain or a cell-free extract thereof comprising at least one Paeniserine and at least one Paeniprolixin. Also provided are isolated compounds and methods of treating a plant to control a plant disease with the disclosed compositions and compounds.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a stabilized fungicidal composition comprising: a) a fusaricidin-producing Paenibacillus sp. strain; and b) a stabilizing agent selected from the group consisting of an amine, a quaternary ammonium compound, a salt of phosphate or citrate, a short chain polyol having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms, a urea, and combinations thereof. The present invention also provides agriculturally acceptable stable aqueous formulations comprising a fusaricidin-producing Paenibacillus sp. strain and a stabilizing agent and methods of controlling disease in plants with the fungicidal compositions and aqueous formulations.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of enriching a lipopeptide in a microbial cell culture, the method comprising mixing an amphiphilic sulfonate and/or an amphiphilic sulfate with the cell culture to induce the formation of aggregates containing the lipopeptide, centrifuging the cell culture to generate a supernatant fraction and a pellet fraction, separating the pellet fraction from the supernatant fraction, and mixing the pellet fraction with a polyoxyethylene glycol alkyl ether to release the lipopeptide from the aggregates. Also provided is a method of purifying an exopolysaccharide from a microbial cell culture, the method comprising mixing an amphiphilic sulfonate and/or an amphiphilic sulfate with the cell culture to induce the formation of aggregates, centrifuging the cell culture to generate a supernatant fraction and a pellet fraction, separating the supernatant fraction from the pellet fraction, adding alcohol to the supernatant fraction to precipitate the exopolysaccharide; and removing the precipitated exopolysaccharide from the supernatant fraction.
