Abstract:
The Selectively Positionable Apparatus Holder is an apparatus holder which may be selectively positioned and fixedly attached to a material such as, for example, a surgical drape, table cover, or equipment cover. The selectively positionable apparatus holder, in some of its various embodiments, comprises a base having a dorsal side and a ventral side with the ventral side being fixedly attachable to a surface, at least one strap integrally formed with the base, the at least one strap having a dorsal side, a ventral side, a proximal end to the base and a distal end projecting outward from the base, the at least one strap further including a means of releasably joining unto itself, whereby the selectively positionable apparatus holder may be selectively positioned upon a material to provide for releasably securing an apparatus.
Abstract:
A distillation unit (1) includes a container in the form of a generally cylindrical steel pot (2) for receiving a first liquid (3). The liquid is evaporated following application of heat from a heat source (4) to form a liquid vapour. Pot (2) has an upwardly facing generally circular opening (5) defined by a peripheral edge in the form of a continuous annular lip (6). A heat exchanger in the form of a generally circular stainless steel dish (9) engages substantially all of lip (6) and extends across substantially all of opening (5). Dish (9) has a downwardly facing substantially frusto-conical condensation surface (10) both for condensing the liquid vapour that contacts surface (10) and for directing the condensate inwardly from lip (6) to a central collection zone (11) that is a substantially planar and horizontal surface. A collector in the form of a metal drinking cup (12) is disposed within pot (2) for receiving the condensate.
Abstract:
Methods and systems of the present invention are provided for performing proxy control functions in an environment including one or more work machines. Such methods and systems may leverage one or more gateways to serve as a proxy for one or more distinct modules. A gateway, located in a work machine, may be programmed with proxy logic that performs functions associated with certain modules used in a work machine environment. The gateway may monitor a data link and retrieve broadcasted messages. The broadcasted messages may include source and/or destination module address identifiers. The gateway may retrieve messages from the data link based on a determination that the message is destined for a module for which the gateway serves as a proxy. The gateway may route a retrieved message, using a mapping structure, to the appropriate proxy logic that performs functions associated with the destination module.
Abstract:
Headgear for directing an animal is disclosed. The headgear includes a bit that includes a pair of rings to which reins of the headgear are to attach; a jointed mouthpiece with a connecting portion adjacent each end for connection to a respective one of the rings such that each ring can rotate through the respective connecting portion, and at least one joint between the connecting portions that allows the mouthpiece to articulate between an undeflected position in which the connecting portions have a maximum separation, and deflected positions in which the separation of the connecting portions is less than the maximum; and a mouthpiece support that extends between the rings, and limits the minimum separation of the connecting portions.
Abstract:
An eye shield attachment can be used in combination with a safety helmet. This helmet has a front brim continuous with a rim extending along each opposite side of the safety helmet to a pair of rim slots in the helmet's rim. The attachment has a pair of frames that can removably attach to the pair of rim slots in the helmet. The frames each have a fastening member that is lockable onto a corresponding one of the rim slots and adjustable to accommodate various depths in the rim slots. A support structure attached to the pair of frames extends along the rim toward the front brim. A front lens and corrective glasses may be attached to the support structure. A pliable bead may be attached to the front of the support structure and extend rearwardly to engage a wearer's forehead.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing indexed work machine utilization data. The system implementing the method includes an operator identification device for identifying an operator of a work machine based on operator identification data and a work data collection device for collecting work data related to the work machine. A first processing device indexes the collected work data to the operator identification data and a communication device transmits the indexed work data and operator identification data to a second processing device. The second processing device receives the indexed work data and the operator identification data and provides operator utilization metrics based on the indexed work data that reflect a quantitative performance value associated with at least one of the work machine and operator.
Abstract:
A method and system are provided to perform a process of wirelessly providing software updates to a target module located in a work machine. In one embodiment, the process includes determining whether a software update condition exits for software stored in the target module and when such a condition does exist, delivering software update data from a remote off-board system to the work machine. Further, the work machine may determine a location of the target module and whether an update delay condition exists. Also, the process may include delivering the software update to the target module if no update delay condition exists, and delaying the delivery of the software update data to the target module if an update delay condition does exist.
Abstract:
A room space such as a caravan is provided with a gas fired space heater having an upright casing within which is located a sealed surface combustion unit having a radiant plaque on one side of which gas is burnt. Primary and secondary air for combustion are fed from inlets below the floor of the room to appropriate sides of the plaque. The products of combustion pass upwardly to an upper part of the casing and then are deflected by a baffle sideways and downwardly to an outlet located below the plaque and below the floor of the room.
Abstract:
An automated expert system that uses split-run and factorial design methods to determine which factors are most important in an experiment. The expert system is architected into Design, Execute and Evaluate phases, to assist a user in developing a Factorial Design experiment in which one, two or three factors are tested simultaneously. In a preferred embodiment, a database infrastructure and web client, browser-based methodology functions as the expert system (a “wizard”) to design experiments, build control groups and evaluate results, all with the goal of discovering what values for which factors will yield the optimum response from subjects.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed that process service requests associated with one or more work machines. In one embodiment, a process is disclosed that includes receiving status information associated with operations of the first work machine and analyzing a first work machine flow sequence associated with the first work machine based on the status information. Based on the analysis, a service request is generated. To fulfill the service request, the process may include modifying a second work machine flow sequence associated with a second work machine.
