摘要： A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to permit a neighbor list to be updated, such as by removing a monitored cell or adding a detected cell. The method determines that a monitored cell that is on the neighbor list or a detected cell that is not on the neighbor list satisfies predetermined criteria defining an event. The method also causes information to be provided regarding the monitored cell or detected cell in response to the event, and then receives a message adding the detected cell to the neighbor list or removing the monitored cell from the neighbor list. Once a detected cell is added to the neighbor list, the method may use the detected cell to determine a frequency quality estimate, use the detected cell for inter-frequency measurements or consider the detected cell for inclusion in a virtual active set.

Thus, the network may take advantage of opportunities for handover or cell reselection offered by a detected cell, while still insuring that handover or cell reselection procedures remain limited to cells that are appropriate.

摘要： A wireless device is wirelessly connected to a wireless network which is controlled by network control apparatus. The wireless device operates in a first activity state in which data can be transmitted to and received from the wireless network over one or more dedicated logical channels. The wireless device transitions to operate in a second activity state having lower power consumption than the first activity state if it is determined by the wireless device that data has not been transmitted by and has not been received at the wireless device for a predetermined period of time. The predetermined period of time is known to both the wireless device and the network control apparatus. The transition takes place synchronously without requiring control signals to be passed between the wireless device and the network control apparatus.

An indication of non-receipt of one of the plurality of data blocks is received from the second device, which leads to a retransmission pending timer being started if a retransmission pending timer is not already running. The first device records for which of the data blocks an indication of non-receipt has been received whilst the timer is running, and notes for which of those initially non-received data blocks an acknowledgement of receipt is subsequently received. At expiry of the timer, the first device retransmits those of the data blocks that have a sequence number less than the sequence number of the data block that led to the timer being started and for which an indication of non-receipt was received whilst the timer is running and an acknowledgement of receipt was not received.
