摘要:
The present invention relates to a closure tape tab for an absorbent article, particularly for a disposable diaper, for fastening the article on the body of a person. The closure tape tab comprises a proximal end portion and a distal end portion being connected by an inner tab portion, wherein the inner tab portion has a first major surface and a second major surface. The proximal and distal end portions are connected to the inner tab portion and the first major surface thereof such that opposing ends of the proximal and distal end portions are spaced apart from each other. The distal end portion is folded over toward the proximal end portion such that at least a part of the first major surface of the inner tab portion in the space is covered. The proximal end portion is preferably not folded. The present invention furthermore relates to a prelaminated closure tape, preferably in a stable roll, from which such closure tape tabs can be cut. The closure tape of the present invention is adapted to be level-wound on a roll so that an increased amount of tape can be stored on the roll.

Composite webs having one or more polymeric structures located on a substrate, closure systems comprising composite webs, and methods of attaching articles are disclosed. The polymeric structures are formed using thermoplastic compositions and are attached to a surface of a substrate. The polymeric structures include an area that is attached to the substrate and a detached area that is not attached to a surface of a substrate.

There is provided an apparatus and methods for stretching one or more zones of a web and webs including one or more stretched zones. Each of the stretched zones in the web is stretched in the cross-web direction, i.e., the direction transverse to the downweb direction. The stretching can be performed continuously on the web as the web is advancing through the apparatus in the down-web direction. The method for stretching an extensible web in the cross direction generally is practiced on a substantially continuous cross-directional extensible web. The web is traveling in a first downweb direction at a first speed. The extensible web has a width and substantially continuous length in the first downweb direction. The crossweb stretching occurs in an orientation zone established between at least two moving nip points. The nip points are in a plane of the web with a leading nip downweb of a trailing nip with the at least two nips offset in the cross direction. The leading nip moves at a faster speed than the trailing nip, where the degree of crossweb orientation in the orientation zone is proportional at least to a ratio of the leading nip speed to the trailing nip speed.

Composite webs having one or more elastic composite structures located on a substrate, methods of manufacturing the composite webs, and articles including the elastic composite structures and substrates are disclosed. The elastic composite structures may preferably include one or more elastic components attached to anchors at two or more locations, wherein the anchors are themselves attached to the substrate. The anchors may preferably be constructed of inelastic polymeric material (and/or exhibit limited to no elasticity in use) and the elastic components may preferably be constructed of elastomeric polymeric material.

An apparatus and methods for stretching one or more zones of an anisotropic web and anisotropic webs including one or more stretched zones is provided. Each of the stretched zones in the web is stretched in the cross-web direction, i.e., the direction transverse to the down-web direction. The stretching can be performed continuously as the web is advancing through the apparatus in the down-web direction. The method for stretching an extensible web in the cross direction generally is practiced on a substantially continuous, extensible anisotropic web. The cross web stretching occurs in an orientation zone established by an orientation unit. The orientation unit moves the web out of the plane of the web where the web is under tension, but without any side restraints. The web moves over the orientation unit where the degree of orientation is proportional to the cross direction displacement of a portion of the web by the orientation unit. The anisotropic web has a tensile strength in the downweb direction greater than the cross direction such that the web is preferentially displaced in the cross web direction by the orientation unit. This can be a downweb direction tensile strength at least 50 percent greater than the cross web direction.

Composite webs having one or more polymeric structures located on a substrate, methods of manufacturing the composite webs, and systems for manufacturing the composite webs are disclosed. The polymeric structures are formed using thermoplastic compositions deposited into one or more depressions on a forming tool. The forming tool is maintained at a temperature that is below the melt processing temperature of the thermoplastic composition.

There is provided a laminate of a thermoplastic backing to a fibrous web. This laminate, for example, could be used as a loop laminate for use in a hook and loop fastening system or an intermittently bonded elastic fibrous laminate. The laminate comprises a thermoplastic backing layer, having a first face and a second face. The backing layer has a plurality of projections extending from at least the first face of the backing. A fibrous web is attached to the backing at the location of at least some of the projections. The thermoplastic material of the backing, at the location of the projections, penetrates into the fibrous web encapsulating at least in part fibers of the fibrous web. The fibrous web preferably penetrates into at least some of the projections. The fibrous web is generally not attached, or very lightly attached, to the backing layer over at least some portion of the distance between adjacent projections. This allows for a low cost fibrous web laminate that can be directly extrusion formed with a backing without compromising the fibrous web's performance between the attached projections.

A closure system that combines a base tab with a stable carrier tab for supporting a fastening component and methods of manufacturing the closure system are disclosed. The carrier tab overlaps only one side of the base tab and is connected to the base tab by a bonding tape. The bonding tape is located over the inner edge of the carrier tab with a portion of the bonding tape being attached to the base tab and another portion of the bonding tape being attached to the carrier tab. As a result, a portion of the carrier tab is located between the bonding tape and the base tab.
