摘要： The system provides a method and apparatus for sorting and displaying information from a BBS. The system provides a method of sorting and presenting messages from a BBS in a way so that the relationship in message threads can be easily observed and related messages can be identified. The system provides a way to view messages and map message threads in two and three dimensions so that the content of messages can be easily reviewed and the relationship between messages can be seen and followed. The system allows a user to enter into a message thread at any point and to then produce a visualization of the related threads and messages associated with each individual message. The system provides interfaces for either a linear or threaded BBS or even a hybrid BBS that is some combination of linear and threaded.

In one embodiment, the system provides a Universe View of a set of communications. The Universe View, in one embodiment, is a three dimensional representation of a plurality of cubes. Each cube represents a subset of a collection of communications. Each cube can be color coded or shaded to represent a dominant theme of the contents of the communications represented by the cube.

摘要： An apparatus for adding a watermark to a moving image as it is displayed comprises a watermark generator in which data representing a watermark is generated. The watermark contains at least one of location data and time data pertaining to the displaying of the moving image. The location and time data is protected by forward error encoding. The watermark also contains at least one of program data identifying the moving image and frame data unique in identifying each frame of the moving image. The program and time data is protected by scrambling. A watermark applicator applies the watermark data to image data representing substantially all of the moving image depending on a characteristic, such as amplitude, of the data.

摘要： A computer device selected as a media server is connected to a consumer electronic (CE) device over multiple media transfer channels. The multiple media transfer channels together with an improved media transfer protocol allow for efficient, real-time transfer of different types of digital media, in various combinations, for playing on the CE device. Each type of media is transferred over its own dedicated channel according to its individual data rate. The improved media transfer protocol allows the data to be transmitted in either an asynchronous mode or a synchronous stream or timestamp mode depending on whether synchronization is desired. A dedicated control channel allows for the transfer of control information from the CE device to the media server as well as for resynchronizing media position of the server upon a change in play mode of the corresponding media.
