    Abstract: To provide a light source unit which can be formed compact in size while contributing to enhancement in luminance and a projector including this light source unit, there is provided a light source unit including a first light source which emits light in a range of first wavelengths, and a second light source which emits light in a range of second wavelengths which is different from the range of first wavelengths, wherein the first light source and the second light source each include a long wavelength light emitting portion and a short wavelength light emitting portion, the long wavelength light emitting portion emitting, of lights of different wavelengths which exist in a range of light wavelengths producing light of similar colors, light of a long wavelength, the short wavelength light emitting portion emitting light of a short wavelength.

    Abstract: Provided are a light source device capable of reducing color irregularities while having a compact size, and a projector including this light source device. A light source device includes: an excitation light irradiation unit 70 that emits excitation light; a rotary wheel unit 100 including a rotary wheel 101 having a filter region 104 that reflects or transmits light in a predetermined wavelength band different from a wavelength band of the excitation light and transmits the excitation light, and a transmission bending region 106 that bends and transmits the excitation light; and a fixed phosphor 200 that is irradiated with the excitation light transmitted through the filter region 104 and emits fluorescence including light in the predetermined wavelength band toward the filter region 104. The rotary wheel unit 100 is configured so that an optical axis of the excitation light that is transmitted through the rotary wheel 101 or is reflected from the rotary wheel 101 overlaps with an optical axis of the fluorescence in the predetermined wavelength band reflected from the filter region 104 or transmitted through the filter region 104.

    Abstract: A light source apparatus includes an excitation light shining device for emitting excitation light, a rotational wheel device including a rotational wheel including a filter area for transmitting light in a predetermined wavelength range differing from a wavelength range of the excitation light and reflecting the excitation light and a direction-changing transmission area for transmitting the excitation light while changing a direction thereof, and a luminescent light emission device which receives the excitation light reflected on the filter area to thereby emit luminescent light including the light in the predetermined wavelength range towards the filter area, and the rotational wheel device is disposed so that an axis of the excitation light which passes through the direction-changing transmission area and an axis of the luminescent light in the predetermined wavelength range which passes through the filter area are superposed on each other.

    Abstract: A light source apparatus includes an optical plate, a convergence optical system, a transfer optical system and two casting optical systems. The optical plate includes a translucent segment and a fluorescent substance layer. The convergence optical system converges an excitation light to the translucent segment and to the fluorescent substance layer. The transfer optical system transfers a spot of the excitation light to a transfer plane of the optical plate. The first casting optical system projects a light source image of fluorescence, which is formed on the fluorescent substance layer, onto a common casting plane. The second casting optical system which projects the spot of the excitation light onto the common casting plane. Optical path lengths of the two casting optical systems are the same.

    Abstract: A light source unit includes an excitation light source, a plurality of light sources at least one of which emits a light ray in a wavelength band different from that of the excitation light source, a plurality of collimator lenses which make light rays from the light sources into parallel ones, a luminous light emitting device which receives the light ray from the excitation light source to emit a luminous light ray, a microlens array which diffuses the light rays from the light sources to a predetermined range and distributes the luminance thereof uniformly within the predetermined range and a collective lens which collects the light rays from the light sources which are emitted from the microlens array, and the light sources are disposed so that the light rays from the plurality of light sources intersect the light ray from the excitation light source at right angles.
