Abstract: An implement hydraulic circuit including a pilot operated flow amplifier directional valve for controlling communication between a source of primary actuating fluid and a hydraulic motor. A pair of valve spools in the valve provide separate regulated flow paths for an inlet passage and an outlet passage respectively with a pair of work ports. An actuating chamber is associated with one end of each of the spools and may each be selectively communicated with a separate source of pilot fluid for actuation of either of the spools to communicate the primary source with either side of the motor. The other spool is positioned by fluid displaced from the motor to communicate the displaced fluid to the outlet passage for return to a reservoir. The configuration of the spools and their arrangement in the valve provide a capability of metering flow from motor to reservoir to prevent overrunning of the motor.

Abstract: A priority system for series-type hydraulic circuits including a plurality of hydraulic work systems disposed in serial fluid communication with a source of fluid under pressure and a priority valve operatively associated with a supply line between two of the work systems operatively dividing them into upstream and downstream work systems and responsive to fluid pressure between the source and the upstream system in excess of a predetermined pressure level automatically to reduce pressure in the downstream work system and maintain a predetermined minimum pressure differential between the downstream and upstream systems when they are operated simultaneously to insure positive actuation of the upstream system.

Abstract: A fluid circuit includes a flow control valve comprising surge damping and counterbalance pressure control valves for controlling the actuation of a cylinder having the rod thereof operatively connected to an implement, such as a loader bucket lift arm. The counterbalance pressure control valve maintains a sufficiently high back pressure in the cylinder during the ''''hold'''' phase of loader operation to prevent the loader bucket from creeping downwardly. The surge damping valve co-operates with the latter valve to freely communicate pressurized fluid to the cylinder during the ''''raise'''' phase of loader operation and to automatically regulate return flow during the ''''lower'''' phase in direct proportion to the magnitude of load imposed on the cylinder rod by the loader bucket.

Abstract: There is disclosed means to provide a supplemental supply of fluid under pressure for emergency use in the hydraulic system of a vehicle with a normal supply provided by an engine driven pump. Pressure for the supplemental system is provided by a simple system including wheel driven pump which is operative during forward movement of the vehicle thereby insuring hydraulic control in emergency situations such as engine and/or engine driven pump failure. During reverse movement of the vehicle, simple pressure valves prevent flow from the main system into the supplemental system but allow reverse circulation of fluid through the wheel driven pump, thereby preventing cavitation.

Abstract: There is disclosed a valve assembly comprising an integral relief and make-up valve provided for use in hydraulic systems. The compact assembly comprises a reciprocal valve spool disposed between a fluid supply conduit and a fluid discharge conduit and relief valve means contained within the valve spool for relieving fluid pressure within the fluid supply conduit. Abstract: A system having a manually operated control valve for directing pressurized fluid to a pair of fluid motors while receiving fluid discharged therefrom also has a fast motion valve for causing the motors to outrun the fluid supplied through the control valve by returning a portion of the discharged fluid directly to the motors. The circuit shifts to provide fast motion on detecting a predetermined flow rate between the control valve and the motors. As the operator can modulate this flow rate, the fast motion is always subject to operator control. To assure operator control under all conditions, the fast motion valve is spring biased to the unoperated position and return of a portion of the motor discharge flow to the control valve is a necessary condition for operation of the fast motion valve. The system is further arranged to prohibit fast motion, under any condition, during reversed motion of the motors.
