Abstract:
The apparatus employs a stationary supporting structure for mounting a curved mandrel, to provide a platform for a truck to ride thereon, and to provide a cam slot in the platform which corresponds to the curvature of the mandrel. The truck has a rotatable winding head on its upper side and a cam follower extending from its underside positioned in the cam slot. When movement is imparted to the truck, the cam follower traverses the cam slot and the winding head traverses the mandrel to wind material onto the mandrel.
Abstract:
A METHOD AND APPARATUS IS PROVIDED FOR CONTINUOUSLY MAKING FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC PIPE IN WHICH A CONVEYOR TUBE IS FORMED ON AN AXIALLY FIXED HOLLOW ROTATABLE MANDREL. A PLURALITY OF BANKS OF RESIN IMPREGNATED FIBER ELEMENTS ARE WOUND ON THE CONVEYOR TUBE AS IT ADVANCES TO PROVIDE THE PIPE ASSEMBLY. THE TERMINAL END OF THE GENERATED PIPE ASSEMBLY IS SEALED WITH A PLUG. A FLUID UNDER
PRESSURE IS FED THROUGH THE HOLLOW MANDREL AND OUT THE FORWARD END OF THE MANDREL INTO A CHAMBER FORMED BY THE GENERATED PIPE ASSEMBLY, THE PLUG, AND A FLUID SEALING MEANS WITHIN THE PIPE ASSEMBLY BEING GENERATED, THEREBY CAUSING THE PIPE ASSEMBLY TO ADVANCE.
Abstract:
A pipe coupling device is provided which comprises a pair of parallel, telescopically arranged frames. Each frame is provided with means for holding or clamping a pipe section. The frames are connected to one another by tension springs. Manually operable means is employed to place the springs in tension so that the joint provided by the mating ends of pipe sections coated with a cement has constant, resilient pressure applied thereto.
