Abstract:
A process for manufacturing a bicycle component and a bicycle component manufactured by the process. The process includes protecting a printed circuit board, inserting the protected printed circuit board into the mold cavity, inserting a composite material into the mold cavity so it is around and in contact with the circuit board, and subjecting the mold cavity to a temperature and pressure profile until the composite material hardens.
Abstract:
A bicycle chain having an alternate succession of outer links and inner links connected to each other at respective end portions thereof. Each outer link and inner link comprises two respective plates arranged parallel to and spaced apart from one another to define a housing space for a tooth of a sprocket or toothed wheel. Each plate of each outer link has, at a central portion thereof, a first thickness. Each plate of each inner link has, at a central portion thereof, a second thickness. Each plate of each outer link and inner link has, at said respective end portions, a third thickness that is less than the sum of said first thickness and second thickness.
Abstract:
A bicycle wheel rim, comprising a wall made of composite material having a plurality of perforated spoke-attachment seats, wherein each perforated seat is delimited by at least one first area comprising an amassment of continuous structural fibers and at least one second area circumferentially spaced apart from said first area and comprising cut structural fibers. A process for manufacturing the aforementioned rim is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A bicycle wheel rim made at least partially of a stratified composite material comprising structural fibers incorporated in a polymeric matrix. At least one opening, which passes through at least one first layer of composite material, is provided and at least one spoke attachment hole, which passes through at least one second layer of composite material, is also provided. The spoke attachment hole is completely contained within the opening in the first layer. A related manufacturing process is also described.
Abstract:
A composite bicycle rim, and a process for manufacturing the rim, having a plurality of perforated spoke-attachment seats having spaced apart first and second areas of cut structural fibers. The second area has both end portions of cut structural fibers having a longitudinal dimension greater than the first area's cut structural fibers and continuous structural fibers. At least some of the end portions of the second area's cut structural fibers are mutually juxtaposed or interposed with respect to the second area's continuous structural fibers.
Abstract:
A bicycle rim is made with a plurality of layered, each of which is formed of structural fibres incorporated in a polymeric material. The rim has a radially outer peripheral channel with an upper bridge extending between the wings for holding a tyre. The peripheral channel comprises an inner layered structure, extending between wings and at least one wrapping layered structure, wound on the inner layered structure at least at the end of the wings, the inner layered structure and the wrapping layered structure being included in the plurality of layered structures.
Abstract:
A composite rim for a bicycle wheel that has a wall of structural fibers incorporated in a thermosetting polymeric material and a plurality of spoke attachment seats. The composite material includes at least one layer of woven bi-directional fibers where some fibers are in a nominal direction substantially parallel to the circumferential direction of the rim and some fibers are substantially orthogonal to the circumferential direction of the rim.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a bicycle component, for example a rim, comprising a body made from aluminium and a body made from composite material coupled with a first surface portion of the body made from aluminium. Such a first surface portion has been subjected to a deoxidation surface treatment. An adhesive substance has been then applied on at least part of said first surface portion for gluing the body made from aluminium to the body made from composite material. A second surface portion of the body made from aluminium has been subjected to an oxidation surface treatment with subsequent fixing of the oxide.
