Abstract: A transport refrigeration unit (TRU) direct current (DC) architecture includes a communications bus (41), a DC power bus (42), first and second voltage control units (VCUs 43,44) respectively comprising a DC/DC converter (430) coupled to the DC power bus and a local controller (431,441) coupled to the communications bus and to the DC/DC converter, an energy storage unit (45) and a DC powered load. The energy storage unit is configured to provide to the DC power bus (42) a quantity of DC power via the DC/DC converter (430) of the first VCU in accordance with control exerted thereon by the local controller (431) of the first VCU and a DC powered load. The DC powered load is configured to receive from the DC power bus a quantity of DC power via the DC/DC converter of the second VCU in accordance with control exerted thereon by the local controller of the second VCU.

Abstract: A purge system for removing non-condensables from a chiller system includes a purge chamber, a plurality of carbon beds fluidly connected to the purge chamber into which a flow of refrigerant and non-condensables is selectably directed from the purge chamber to remove the non-condensables therefrom. A vent line is fluidly connected to the plurality of carbon beds to dispose of the collected non-condensables, and a heater is operably connected to the plurality of carbon beds to selectably heat one or more of the carbon beds of the plurality of carbon beds to release refrigerant therefrom and direct the released refrigerant to the purge chamber.

Abstract: A system is provided including a vapor compression cycle. The vapor compression cycle includes an operably coupled compressor, condenser, first expansion device, and evaporator through which a refrigerant circulates. A thermal energy storage unit includes a heat exchanger arranged within a phase change material. The heat exchanger is fluidly coupled to the vapor compression cycle with a plurality of conduits and valves such that refrigerant flows through the heat exchanger in a heat transfer relationship with the phase change material. When the system is in a first mode, the heat exchanger is configured to function similar to the evaporator and the phase change material is configured to store thermal energy. When the system is in a second mode, the heat exchanger is configured to function similar to the condenser and the phase change material is configured to release thermal energy.

Abstract: A corrosion protection system is provided. The corrosion protection system comprises an electrical contact coupled to an apparatus. The electrical contact can apply a negative potential to the apparatus. The corrosion protection system comprises a sensor. The sensor detects moisture with respect to the apparatus. The corrosion protection system comprises a power supply. The power supply is electrically coupled to the electrical contact and provides a negative potential to the electrical contact in accordance with commands of a processor. The processor utilizes the power supply attached to the apparatus via the electrical contact to provide and apply the negative potential to the apparatus based on a sensor signal from the sensor. The sensor signal indicates the detection of the moisture by the sensor.

Abstract: A heat transfer system is disclosed that includes a heat exchanger comprising an inlet, an outlet, and a flow path through the heat exchanger between the inlet and the outlet. The system also includes a fluid circulation loop external to the heat exchanger connecting the outlet to the inlet. A phase change composition is disposed in the system flowing through the fluid circulation loop and the flow path through the heat exchanger. Abstract: A transport refrigeration system includes a transport refrigeration unit, an energy storage device, a supply refrigerant tube, a return refrigerant tube and at least one electrical pathway. The transport refrigeration unit is adapted to cool a container. The energy storage device is adapted to provide electrical energy for operating the transport refrigeration unit. The supply refrigerant tube flows a refrigerant from the transport refrigeration unit to the energy storage device, and the return refrigerant tube flows the refrigerant from the energy storage device back to the transport refrigeration unit. The electrical pathway extends between the transport refrigeration unit and the energy storage device, and supplies at least electrical energy to the transport refrigeration unit.
