Abstract: A machine includes a power generation system; a propulsion system; a work implement coupled to a body of the machine via a linkage that includes at least one actuator; a perception system configured to generate a signal that is indicative of a position of the machine relative to a material receptacle; and a controller operatively coupled to the perception system, the propulsion system, the power generation system, and the at least one actuator. The controller is configured to receive the signal from the perception system, determine a location of the work implement relative to the material receptacle based at least in part on the signal from the perception system, and actuate at least one of the propulsion system, the power generation system, and the at least one actuator based on the determined location of the work implement relative to the material receptacle.

Abstract: A perception system for a work machine may include a short-range thermal stereo detector and a long-range thermal stereo detector both mounted to the work machine. The long-range thermal stereo detector may face in the same direction as the short-range thermal stereo detector. The perception system may also include a controller associated with the short-range thermal stereo detector and the long-range thermal stereo detector. The controller may be configured to receive information from both the short-range thermal stereo detector and the long-range thermal stereo detector and may also be configured to process the information for displaying on an output device of the work machine or for automatically controlling, based on the information processed, components mechanically associated with the work machine.

Abstract: System and methods for determining and controlling appropriate fluid delivery are disclosed. One method includes determining a first electrical conductivity value associated with soil at a first location of a worksite, determining a first global position associated with the first location, comparing the first electrical conductivity value to a first predetermined threshold associated with the first global position, and if the first electrical conductivity value is less than the first predetermined threshold, triggering a sprayer to spray the soil at the first location with fluid.

Abstract: A method for calibrating sensors devices mounted on a machine is disclosed. The method includes transforming a first 3D point cloud to generate a transformed first 3D point cloud based on an alignment of the first 3D point cloud with a 3D model of the machine. The first 3D point cloud includes 3D point cloud of one or more features of a terrain around the machine, and the machine. The method further includes aligning a second 3D point cloud with the transformed first 3D point cloud based on the one or more features of the terrain, to determine one or more transformation parameters. Thereafter, one or more calibration parameters for the second sensor device is extracted from the one or more transformation parameters. The second sensor device is calibrated based on the one or more calibration parameters.

Abstract: A system for locating a cable tethered from a machine along a worksite is disclosed. The system includes a thermal camera configured to detect an infrared radiation emitted by a surrounding area of the machine within fields of view of thermal camera. A location unit generates a position of the machine. The system includes a processing device disposed on the machine and in communication with the thermal camera and the location unit. The processing device determines a location of the cable based on signals from the thermal camera and the location unit. The system further includes a server remotely located with respect to the machine and disposed in communication with the processing device. The server is configured to record locations of the cable at different instances of time and generates a map of the cable based on the locations of the cable.

Abstract: A method for tracking workers at a worksite is disclosed. The method includes acquiring a video of the worksite and detecting a movement of objects in the video. Each object is represented by a plurality of pixels. The method includes identifying an item associated with at least one object by clustering a set of pixels of the plurality of pixels based on a color of the set of pixels. Next, the method includes determining the item as a hard hat based on at least a shape of the set of pixels, and identifying the object as a specific worker based on the color of the set of pixels. The method also includes generating a movement data associated with the specific worker based on a tracking of the hard hat.
