The variable length packet switching system includes at least two switching means, a plurality of multiplexing units and a plurality of demultiplexing units. The switching means switch ATM cells or variable length packet data in parallel. The multiplexing means are arranged upstream of the switching means for multiplexing data inputted from a line card to the switching means in packet units and dividing a packet into packets of a number corresponding to the number of the switching means. The demultiplexing means are arranged downstream of the switching means for combining packets inputted after being switched in parallel by the at least two switching means and outputting the combined packet converted into a format adequate to the line card.

摘要: The invention relates to an EPON bridge apparatus and a forwarding method thereof. In case of receiving frame from the network port or the PON port, the apparatus associates the port having the received frame inputted with source MAC address of the received frame to learn the information in an FDB table which manages port information for the learned MAC address. Then the apparatus refers to the FDB table to remove LLID from upstream frame, and then forwards the upstream frame to the network port, while attaching LLID corresponding to destination MAC address to downstream frame to transmit to the PON port. Bridging between ONUs are possible with flooding capability using anti-LLID. It provides VLAN-LLID translation mode with support for VLAN tag addition/removal at the ONU side. It also provides multicast pruning function for the downstream.

摘要: Provided are method and apparatus for dynamically allocating unlink bandwidth in Ethernet PON. In the method and apparatus, report value, which are received for each logical link identifications (LLID), is controlled to be less than a maximum gate value set for each LLID in sequence for all of LLIDs without a predetermined interval. A gate having a length corresponding to the restricted report value is generated. LLIDs are grouped into classes and processing is done class by class. For each class processing, if maximum processing time is reached or maximum total allocation is reached, the processing is switched to a lower class. Also each class processing, if any higher class has its maximum yield processing time or maximum yield allocated gate reached, the processing is switched to that higher class.

摘要: An Ethernet switch having a function of expanding a port, apparatus and method for expanding a port are provided. A receiver receives a frame including predetermined port identification information. An information detector detects the predetermined port identification information and a terminal address of a terminal connected to a sub port corresponding to the predetermined port identification information. A storage unit stores an address table including the terminal address and the predetermined port identification information. A reader reads port identification information corresponding to a destination address included in the frame from the address table. A frame transformer adds the read port identification information to the frame. An output unit outputs the frame transformed by the frame transformer to a main port connected to a sub port corresponding to the read port identification information among main ports that can be connected to at least one sub port.

摘要: An apparatus and method for detecting errors in received data and transferring only error-free data in data communications are provided. In the cyclic redundancy check (CRC) verification apparatus and method having a constant delay, irrespective of the length of a received data frame, input and output processing delay of received data is made to be constant. The CRC verification apparatus having constant delay comprises an input control unit which stores the start address of an input data frame in a memory storing the input data frame, and stores a CRC verification result in the start address location; and an output control unit which after a predetermined constant time passes from the start address, reads an input data frame and if the CRC verification result is normal, output the read data frame. The apparatus and method make the time taken for receiving a data frame, constant irrespective of the received data frame, while CRC verification is performed.

摘要: The invention provides a method and apparatus for allocating a dynamic band width of an EPON and an EPON master apparatus using the same. The bandwidth allocation is cycle based where every predetermined cycle, static gates are generated for all ONUs and dynamic gates are generated according to the reports using the remaining grant resource. The method for allocating an upstream bandwidth to transmit data from the ONUs to an OLT is as follows. A total allocatable grant length is calculated for the given cycle. A requested amount of grant length needed to transmit upstream data in each ONU is set based on report values collected from the report frames from all ONUs in the EPON. Then, distribution is made sequentially and repeatedly in a cycle by taking a basic unit from the total grant length and adding it to the grant length of the ONUs until the total allocatable grant length becomes 0 or the grant length allocated to all ONUs satisfy the requested amount of the grant length set in all ONUs.
