Disclosed herein is a device for introducing soil treatment liquids into the ground including a plurality of injection tines having a downwardly directed tip portion and connected to a rotatable crankshaft for reciprocative movement between a raised or non-injection position and an injection position wherein the tine portion is located beneath the ground surface. Flow of the treatment liquid to the tines is controlled by a rotary flow distribution valve which is connected directly to a chain drive sprocket mounted on the crankshaft and which is arranged to selectively supply the treatment liquid to the tines only when they are in the injection position. Each tine has a generally spherical tip made from a high aluminum ceramic material and an internal check valve located near the tip for minimizing the amount of residual liquid which can be shaken from the tine while it is in the non-injection position.

The canopy includes brackets for mounting thereof on the vehicle support posts, a resilient, perimeter frame supported by the support brackets and having opposed arcuate end sections, which in their free form, lie in a generally horizontally, outwardly bowed relation to each other, and a flexible, water-repellent top mounted on the perimeter frame in a manner so as to distort the end sections upwardly from their free form and cause the end sections, in attempting to return to their free form, to apply multi-directional stresses on the top such that the top assumes a generally upwardly convex shape in cross section.

A process for cleaning or dewatering a surface in which there is applied to the surface a washing composition containing a volatile methyl siloxane such as hexamethyldisiloxane or octamethyltrisiloxane, and an agent for enhancing cleaning or dewatering such as a glycol ether or surface active agent. While the surface is still wet with the washing composition, it is rinsed with an azeotrope containing hexamethyldisiloxane or octamethyltrisiloxane, and 2-pentanol, 2-methyl -1-pentanol, 3-methyl-3-pentanol, 1-methoxy-2-propanol, 1-butoxy -2-propanol, 1-hexanol, n-propoxypropanol, or ethyl lactate. The surface is then dried or permitted to dry.

Dual zone reverse phase packing materials for use in liquid chromatographic blood serum analysis are prepared by contacting a porous support, such as porous silica, with a fluorocarbon silane, such as a perfluorobutylsilyl compound, to form a lipophobic phase in the external zone of the porous support, and, then contacting the porous support with a lipophilic silane, such as an octadecylsilyl compound, to form a lipophilic partitioning phase in the internal zone of the porous support. Ketal blocked diol groups, which later may be hydrolyzed to diol groups, are also attached to both zones of the packing materials. The dual zone reverse phase packing materials display a reduced degree of serum protein adsorption in the external zone while drug substances are retained and separated by the lipophilic partitioning phase in the internal zone.
