摘要： Provided is a film-forming composition substantially free of organic solvent which includes an aqueous dispersion of polymeric microparticles prepared by emulsion polymerization of a monomeric composition containing (1) at least 10 percent by weight of one or more vinyl aromatic compounds; (2) 0.1 to 10 percent by weight of one or more carboxylic acid functional polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated monomers; (3) 0 to 10 percent by weight of one or more polymerizable monomers having one or more functional groups capable of reacting to form crosslinks; and (4) one or more polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomers. Each of (1), (2), (3) and (4) are different one from the other and at least one of (3) and (4) is present in the monomeric composition. Multi-layer composite coatings and coated substrates also are provided.

The compositions are essentially free of additives derived from reaction products of isocyanate functional materials and alkoxypolyalkylene compounds.The present invention further provides multi-component composite coating compositions comprising a first film-forming composition applied to a substrate to form a primer or base coat, and a second film-forming composition applied on top of the primer or base coat to form a top coat, the top coat comprising the composition described above.Coating compositions prepared from the curable compositions of the present invention demonstrate superior pop resistance properties, making them ideally suited for automotive applications.

The (meth)acrylated amine is the reaction product of a polyamine and a mono(meth)acrylate; the ratio of equivalents of isocyanate groups to equivalents of amine groups is greater than 1 and the isocyanate and the (meth)acrylated amine reaction product can be applied to a substrate at a volume mixing ratio of 1:1. Methods for using the coatings, and substrates coated therewith are also disclosed.
