The pressure transducer senses differential pressure across a metering orifice. The pressure transducer measures flow through the metering orifice during leak testing. A vacuum is drawn in the system for leak testing. The by-pass valve is opened to bypass the metering orifice and permit full flow to the flow control valve during normal engine operation.

The dog clutch includes a first portion configured to move when the actuator is moved and a second portion configured for engagement with the first portion. The constant velocity joint housing is formed integrally with the second portion of the dog clutch. A wheel may be disconnected from the rear drive module unless engagement of the first and second portions of the dog clutch allows torque to be transferred to the wheel. In one embodiment, a hydraulically activated piston may be used to activate the first portion of the dog clutch. In another embodiment, a ball ramp may be used to activate the first portion of the dog clutch. A vehicle driveline including a wheel disconnect system is also provided.

A release mechanism for use with fuel filler door latch systems that provides superior control of door movement during the entire service life of the motor vehicle. The biasing mechanism of the present invention includes a kick-out spring that acts directly against the striker bar. As such, the kick-out spring is not exposed to over-stressing and does not cause undue wear of the automobile body. The kick-out spring is a leaf spring having a first end that is secured to the housing, an intermediate section routed between posts extending outwardly from the housing, and a cantilevered second end that is oriented to be engaged and resiliently deflected by the striker bar when the fuel filler door is moved toward its closed position. In the closed position, the striker bar forcibly biases the second end of the kick-out spring to a deflected position. Upon release of the striker bar, the kick-out spring acts on the striker bar for urging the fuel filler door to its open position, thereby permitting the kick-out spring to return to its non-deflected position.

The present invention provides an electrical switch that is adapted to compensate for dimensional variations in the alignment between a resilient switch member and a movable actuation member. To this end, the electrical switch has general utility but is primarily intended for use in automotive applications. More specifically, the improved electrical switch is incorporated into a latching mechanism for controlling an electrical circuit that is provided for indicating whether the latching mechanism is in a latched or an unlatched condition. The electrical switch has a pair of overlapping and offset terminal blades and further includes a biasing arrangement for biasing each terminal blade into a predetermined alignment relative to the other. The biasing arrangement is further operable for biasing both blades relative to the movable actuation member of the latch mechanism. The actuation member is made of an electrically insulative material and has a reference surface which, due to the preload biasing exerted on the terminal blades, is maintained in continuous engagement with at least one of the terminal blades during movement of the actuation member.

The device provides interlock capability by locking the pivotable shift actuating lever which is operatively associated with the transmission. A transmission mounted solenoid is provided having a moving armature coupled to a locking member which, when energized, positions the locking member into interlocking engagement within an engaging notch provided in the shift actuating lever. The device includes means for proper alignment of the interlocking components during installation of the interlock device onto the transmission. One alternate embodiment further provides means for having interlocking capabilities at more than one gear shift lever position. Another embodiment causes the transmission actuating lever to lock when the solenoid is de-energized and is movable upon energization.

The circuit breaker has a planar base member with a raised projection which supports a stationary contact member so that the movable contact member overhangs the stationary contact member. The movable contact member is provided with a number of layers of amorphous ferromagnetic material, disposed adjacent the stationary contact, bringing the movable contact member into electrical contact with the stationary contact member. Upon reaching its Curie point temperature, the amorphous ferromagnetic material will become paramagnetic or nonmagnetic material, so that the inherent resiliency of the movable contact material causes the electrical circuit to be made or broken.

A combination key lock and latch assembly for a vehicle trunk lid having the key lock located separately and closely adjacent the latch assembly without requiring modification of an existing latch assembly. A sliding actuator is attached to an existing latch assembly without requiring modification. The key lock includes a projecting arm for rotation upon user rotation of the key lock; and, the arm contacts a projection on the sliding actuator for affecting movement and release of the latch. The latch assembly may be manually released from inside the trunk by moving the projection on the sliding actuator.

The device provides interlock capability by locking the transmission shift cable. An in-line solenoid is provided within the shifter cable having a movable armature which, when energized, forces locking balls or other engagement features into interlocking engagement with the cable core or rod member attached thereto. An alternate embodiment provides an adjustment link for accommodating vehicle tolerance variations and further provides means for having interlock capabilities at more than one shifter position.

An improved deck lid lock with remote release for motor vehicles. The deck lid lock employs a solenoid operated rotatable armature which acts directly on a leg of a rotatable latch plate which engages a lock bar. On energization of the solenoid, the armature is attracted to the solenoid causing it to disengage the latch plate so that the deck lid may be opened. When the deck lid is closed, the lock bar is engaged by the latch plate which is returned to its normal latched position in engagement with the armature. The deck lid lock further includes a rotatable key cam which acts on the armature to enable release of the deck lid through conventional external key actuation.
