    Abstract: A first network device implementing a link aggregation group with a second network device, receives a first datagram. The link aggregation group has a plurality of member links coupled to both the first network device and the second network device. The first datagram originates from a first device and is destined for a second device that is communicatively coupled to the second network device. The first network device determines that the first datagram matches a first datagram signature. The first network device determines that datagrams that match the first datagram signature are to be sent to the second network device via a first member link of the plurality of member links. The first network device sends, to the second network device, the datagram via the first member link.

A wireless network includes a router to provide access to external networks, physical access points (pAPs) to provide radio communications access to a user device, and a controller to form a vPA by layer two link aggregating the pAPs using access point and configuration information and send a virtual service set identifier (vSSID) to the pAPs. The vAP having a layer two data plane and control plane. The vAP provides a wireless coverage area equivalent to the pAPs using the vSSID, enable a user device to connect to the data plane via a data link, connect to the control place via layer two control links, and radio frequency connect to the pAPs. The controller and the pAPs configured to manage user data traffic flow between the router and the user device via the control and the data planes.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods for discovery, synchronization and operation of network components. In one embodiment, the network comprises a passive optical network (PON), and the components being synchronized include an enhanced OLT (eOLT) and one or more enhanced ONUs (eONUs). The eOLT is configured in one variant to utilize control protocol messaging (such as those used in the MPCP or Multi Point Control Protocol) to communicate particular synchronization parameters and durations to the eONU(s), whether individually or via multicast/broadcast. The synchronization parameter and durations are selected to optimize discovery and synchronization of the eONU(s) with the eOLT, and also optimize (subsequent) normal operation, in one implementation through selection of synchronization patterns which enable most efficient AGC determination, clock recovery (CDR), SBD, and EBD identification.

    Abstract: Various embodiments include processing devices and methods for integrity verification of a news item. A processor of a network element may obtain an electronic news item that is ready for publication, and may determine a fingerprint using one or more portions of the electronic news item. The processor may determine for the electronic news item a record including the determined fingerprint and a second fingerprint of a previous electronic news item. The processor may store the determined record in a publicly available digital ledger, embed the determined fingerprint in the electronic news item, and publish the electronic news item. A computing device may obtain the published news item and may use the embedded fingerprint in the record that is stored in the digital ledger to verify the integrity of the electronic news item.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for silent start when connecting a point-to-point (P2P) customer premises equipment (CPE) to a fiber access network. The P2P CPE may boot in a silent mode (by disabling an upstream optical transmitter) when the P2P CPE is connected to the fiber access network using a simplex fiber. Upstream transmissions are not sent by the P2P CPE unless a valid downstream signal with expected characteristics is detected by the P2P CPE. A valid downstream signal determination may indicate that the fiber access network is a P2P access network. A variety of characteristics may be used to validate the downstream signal including wavelength, a range of wavelengths, a line coding, a frame format, parity data, point to multipoint network information, point to point network information, logical link identifier, and a multi-point control protocol.

    Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems for reducing the sizes of electronic messages in a conversation. A client device processor may generate a message that includes a conversation identifier (convo-id) header field and determine whether the generated message is a first message in the conversation. The client device processor may generate a convo-id value and include the generated convo-id value in the convo-id header field of the generated message in response to determining that the generated message is the first message in the conversation. The client device processor may set the convo-id value of convo-id header field of the generated message equal to the value of a convo-id header field of a previous message in response to determining that the obtained message is not the first message in the conversation.
