    摘要: A smartcard unit includes at least a smartcard and an attachment enabling the smartcard unit to be worn by a user. The smartcard is accessible to an external reader. A reader unit interfaces with the smartcard to enable an external computer to communicate with the smartcard. The smartcard unit or the reader unit has structure to align the reader unit relative to the smartcard unit in an alignment for communicative interfacing while the smartcard unit is being worn. The smartcard unit or the reader unit has a retainer to secure the reader unit in alignment relative to the smartcard so that the smartcard unit is reversibly separable from the reader unit without damage, in response to a force less than is necessary to detach or damage another part of said system, other than along a longitudinal axis of the smartcard or of a pair of components being separated.

    摘要: This invention relates to a method of lowering abnormally high serum cholesterol levels in the body without significantly reducing mevalonic metabolite synthesis and to novel pharmacological compositions containing as an active ingredient bisphosphonic acid and ester compounds containing a mono-, bi- or tricyclic ring linked with a bisphosphonate moiety through a basic amino alkylene group. This invention also provides novel bisphosphonate compounds and the processes for their preparation.

    摘要: Apparatus and methods for treating skin conditions that deliver high frequency energy across large tissue areas. The treatment apparatus comprises a treatment tip carrying a plurality of electrodes that are switched such that fewer than all of the electrodes are concurrently energized. The treatment tip includes a cooling mechanism that cools near-surface tissue regions disposed between the skin surface and the treated tissue by cooling the respective electrode that treats each of the regions. The cooling mechanism may include a heat transfer body intervening between the electrodes and a fluid delivery member configured to discharge coolant that impinges the heat transfer body. Alternatively, the cooling mechanism may include a fluid delivery member having individually valve-controlled passages configured to discharge a dedicated stream of coolant at each of the electrodes, a thermoelectric cooler, or a closed-loop fluid delivery member.
