In particular, the present invention provides metallic nanoparticles (e.g. gold nanoparticles) that are encapsulated in biologically important carbohydrate molecules, such as sugars, sugar derivatives, P-blood group antigens and analogues thereof. The present invention also provides methods of employing these carbohydrate encapsulated nanoparticles in diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

摘要: A liquid crystal display (LCD) including an LCD panel and a back light module is provided. The back light module is disposed below the LCD panel. The back light module includes a planar light source, a reflective polarized light enhancement film, a first prism film and a λ/4 phase retardation film. The planar light source is disposed below the LCD panel, while the reflective polarized light enhancement film is disposed between the LCD panel and the planar light source. The first prism film is disposed between the reflective polarized light enhancement film and the planar light source. Besides, the λ/4 phase retardation film is disposed between the reflective polarized light enhancement film and the first prism film. The back light module has a relatively high light utilization rate, and the LCD has favorable display luminance.

摘要: An optically compensated bend (OCB) liquid crystal display (LCD) panel is provided. The OCB LCD panel includes an active device array substrate, an opposite substrate, an OCB liquid crystal layer and a first patterned dielectric layer. The opposite substrate is disposed opposite to the active device array substrate, while the OCB liquid crystal layer is disposed between the active device array substrate and the opposite substrate. Besides, the first patterned dielectric layer is disposed on the active device array substrate. It is noted that the first patterned insulator has at least a first concave and at least a first transition surface corresponding thereto, such that an arrangement of the liquid crystal molecules of the OCB liquid crystal layer above the first transition surface is a hybrid state. In the above-mentioned OCB LCD panel, the OCB liquid crystal layer can be transited from a splay state to a bend state rapidly.

摘要: A multi-domain transflective liquid crystal display includes a plurality of picture elements each having a reflective region and a transmissive region. The reflective region and the transmissive region both have a plurality of orientation-divided domains with liquid crystal molecules in an individual domain having substantially the same orientation direction, and an azimuth difference of substantial 45 degrees exists between the distribution of the orientation directions of liquid crystal molecules in the reflective region and that in the transmissive region.

摘要: A transflective liquid crystal display device mainly includes a single-cell gap panel, and the bottom surface of the single-cell gap panel has a reflective device. A first liquid crystal (LC) film is installed at the top side of the single-cell gap panel, and a first polarizer is equipped at the top side of the first LC film, a second LC film is equipped at the bottom side of the single-cell gap panel, and a second polarizer is equipped at the bottom side of the second LC film. By way of this optical structure compensation, the present invention which collocates the LC films with the transflective structure of a common single-cell gap panel can complete the transflective optic mode and obtain better reflective contrast ratio, transmissive contrast ratio and higher transmittance for liquid crystal display devices.

摘要: A liquid crystal display (LCD) panel including a first substrate, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer is provided. The first substrate includes a signal line, an insulating layer and a pixel electrode. The insulating layer is disposed between the signal line and the pixel electrode. The pixel electrode partly overlaps the signal line. The second substrate is parallel to the first substrate. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. When a cross-voltage is applied to the signal line and the pixel electrode, a fringe vertical field having different directions is formed on the peripheral of the partly overlapped area between the signal line and the pixel electrode, such that the liquid crystal layer produces at least one transition nucleus area according to the fringe vertical field.
