Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques for handling MAC address collision within an ESS comprising at least one wireless station and at least one access point (AP). A wireless station selects a first Identifiable Random Media Access Control (MAC) (IRM) address, and sends the IRM address to the AP during execution of a handshake protocol. The wireless station receives a message from the AP indicating the selected IRM address is allocated for use by another wireless station. Responsive to the message, the wireless station selects a second IRM address different from the first IRM address, and transmits the second IRM address to the AP after execution of the handshake protocol. The wireless station uses the second IRM address in a subsequent association with the wireless AP or any other AP in a same extended service set (ESS) of the wireless AP.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a process determines wireless station (STA) load and schedule of two or more access point (AP) radios. The process then develops a coordination between the two or more access point radios to limit downtime for one or more multi-link wireless devices capable of multi-link operation (MLO) on two or more channels. The process further causes the one or more multi-link wireless devices to move between access point radios based on the wireless station load and schedule and according to the coordination.

Abstract: Techniques for intelligent multi-link operation (MLO) mode selection are provided. One or more metrics for wireless communication in a wireless network is collected. A set of multi-link operation (MLO) modes available for the wireless communication between a station multi-link device (STA MLD) and a first access point multi-link device (AP MLD) in the wireless network is determined. A first MLO mode of the set of MLO modes is selected based on the one or more collected metrics. The wireless communication is performed using the selected first MLO mode.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes an apparatus that generates headers for backscattering devices. The apparatus includes one or more memories and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the one or more memories. A combination of the one or more processors determined an Internet protocol (IP) address for a backscattering device, generates a header that includes the IP address, and communicates a first energizing frame to the backscattering device. The first energizing frame includes the header. The combination of the one or more processors also receives a message from the backscattering device. The message includes the header.

Abstract: Various embodiments herein disclose coordinating neighbor discovery between access points (APs) with auxiliary radios and APs without auxiliary radios. A corresponding wireless controller comprises a processor and a memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the controller to perform operations. The operations comprise grouping APs into a first group of more flexible APs and a second group of less flexible APs and querying the second group of APs for a corresponding broadcast interval. The operations further comprise identifying when the second group of APs is scheduled to broadcast parameters, and a broadcast interval for each of the second group of APs and generating a schedule based on the scheduled broadcast and the broadcast interval for each of the second group of APs. The operations additionally comprise providing the generated schedule to the first group of APs and the second group of APs.

Abstract: Techniques for improved peer-to-peer communication are provided. A wireless access point (AP) may initiate peer-to-peer communication between multilink peer-to-peer devices by sending a trigger frame addressed to the peer-to-peer devices to hand over a transmission opportunity (TXOP). The trigger frame is sent based on the AP's knowledge of the availability of the peer-to-peer devices for peer-to-peer communication. The trigger frame indicates a link to be used for the peer-to-peer communication. In response to receiving the trigger frame one or more of the peer-to-peer devices acknowledge the trigger frame, tune to the assigned link, and use the remaining portion of the TXOP for peer-to-peer communication.

Abstract: Techniques for improved peer-to-peer communication are provided. A roaming peer-to-peer device may identify a new access point (AP) and initiate a transition to the new AP. Initiating transition can involve sending, to the new AP, the current peer-to-peer communication schedule for approval and/or negotiating a modified peer-to-peer communication schedule with the new AP. When the roaming peer-to-peer device and the new AP agree on the peer-to-peer communication schedule, the peer-to-peer device may notify its counterpart that it has roamed to the new AP and also notify the counterpart of any updates to the peer-to-peer communication schedule.

Abstract: Device-to-Device (D2D) communications in hybrid networks are provided by identifying a first dual-mode endpoint seeking to communicate with a second dual-mode endpoint via a D2D communications session; identifying a first communications pattern of network resource usage for the first Radio Access Technology (RAT) and a second communications pattern of network resource usage for the second RAT in the heterogeneous wireless network environment; assigning the D2D communications session to the first RAT based on the first communication pattern and the second communication pattern; and in response to detecting network resource usage changes in the first RAT, transitioning the D2D communications session to the second RAT. In some embodiments, the D2D communications session is assigned to the first RAT using a shared frequency regulated by a band access controller that is reserved as a static resource for D2D communication while high-priority signals are absent from the shared frequency.
