    摘要: An apparatus and method of use for treating at least one fluid, in a container that holds at least one mass of a particulate material between two perforated walls. Near the upper part of the mass, at least one deflector extends from the first wall towards the second wall. Fluid flows through the walls horizontally, and the deflector is positioned at an angle to this horizontal fluid flow direction. With this particular apparatus configuration, an area close to the second wall and opposite the adjacent end of the deflector is formed, which is generally free of particulate matter; thus, resulting in a more efficient treatment process.

    摘要: Heat and material exchange device including a stack of fixed ventilators to promote gas mixing, each ventilator being constituted by four deflectors whose mean normals are inclined and generated one after another by rotation about vertical axes, the sum of the four angles of rotation being 360.degree.. The ventilators are stacked in successive horizontal layers amidst which each deflector forms a part of two adjacent ventilators turned in opposite directions and such that there is sufficient space between two adjacent deflectors for the passage of gas. The deflectors are pierced by at least one hole so as to promote passage of the liquid to the underside of the deflectors. At least some of the deflectors are connected to at least one of their neighbors in a same horizontal plane by a common edge segment so as to permit lateral division of the liquid between deflectors. The device is useful in columns for separating the components of air, or mixtures of carbon monoxide, nitrogen, hydrogen or hydrocarbons, or for the separation of isotopes.

    摘要: Process and installation for the production of gaseous oxygen and/or gaseous nitrogen under pressure, of the type in which air is distilled in a double distillation column (11) comprising a low pressure column (13) operating under a so-called low pressure, and a medium pressure column (12) operating under a so-called medium pressure. All the air to be distilled is compressed (in 1, 3, 7)to at least one high air pressure substantially greater than the medium pressure, and the compressed air is cooled to an intermediate temperature, and a portion of it is expanded in a turbine (8) to the medium pressure, before introducing it into the medium pressure column (12). The air which has not been expanded is liquefied, then introduced after expansion (in 20, 21), into the double column. At least one liquid product withdrawn from the double column is brought to the production pressure, and this liquid product is vaporized by heat exchange with at least one portion of the air to be distilled in the course of cooling. An additional cycle fluid withdrawn from the double column (11) or destined for this latter, is reheated, compressed (in 3; 30, 31) to a high cycle pressure, cooled, a fraction thereof expanded (in 8; 35) with the production of external work, and the rest of the compressed additional cycle fluid is liquefied.
