    Abstract: A passive optical network includes a central office providing subscriber signals; a drop terminal; and a wave division multiplexer. A fiber distribution hub may split or separate out dedicated optical signals from subscriber optical signals between the central office and the drop terminal. The wave division multiplexer separates dedicated optical signals pertaining to a specific dedicated subscriber from other optical signals on the line received at the wave division multiplexer. The wave division multiplexer may be part of a cable or part of an intermediate service terminal.

The cable is terminated by the connector with the conductors of the connector in electrical communication with the strength members. The conductors of the connector electrically contact the conductors of the adapter when the connector and the adapter are mechanically connected. And, the conductors of the adapter electrically contact the conductors of the enclosure when the adapter is mounted on the enclosure.

    Abstract: An optical power detection system comprises a sensor and a reader. The sensor is configured to detect light in the cladding of an optical fiber. The sensor is positioned both within a ferrule of the optical fiber and proximate the cladding. The sensor is additionally configured to produce an output signal representative of the detected light. The reader is electrically coupled to the sensor and is configured to receive the sensor output signal. The reader is additionally configured to operation on the output signal to produce a corresponding visual and/or audible indication of the optical power in the optical fiber.
