Abstract: A wireless distribution system (WDS) is configured for transmitting a downlink signal or for receiving an uplink signal. A computing device configured to serve as a client device to the WDS includes a memory; a multiple applications processor in communication with the memory and configured to execute one or more mobile applications; and a wireless service processor in communication with the multi applications processor for communicating via a corresponding wireless service with the WDS. The multi applications processor is configured to execute an instance of a data service to establish a connection with the WDS for a specified application process utilizing the wireless service to provide at least one datum on the WDS. In the method, an instance of a data service is executed to establish a connection with a WDS for a specified application process utilizing a wireless service to provide at least one datum on the WDS.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed in the detailed description include supporting an add-on remote unit(s) (RU) in an optical fiber-based distributed antenna system (DAS) over existing optical fiber communications medium using radio frequency (RF) multiplexing. An existing DAS comprises at least one existing head end equipment (HEE) communicatively coupled to a plurality of existing RUs through an existing optical fiber communications medium. In aspects disclosed herein, an add-on RU is added to the existing DAS to support additional wireless communications. No new optical fibers are required to be deployed to support communications to the add-on RU in the existing DAS. Instead, the existing DAS is configured to support the add-on RU through the existing optical fiber communications medium using RF multiplexing. As a result, the add-on RU can be added to the existing optical fiber-based DAS without adding new optical fibers, thus leading to reduced service disruptions and deployment costs.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure relate to antenna array beamforming in a remote unit(s) in a wireless distribution system (WDS). In this regard, a remote unit in a WDS includes an antenna array having a plurality of radio frequency (RF) antennas. The RF antennas transmit a plurality of modified downlink RF signals in a plurality of phases. A control circuit in the remote unit determines the phases to cause the RF antennas to transmit a formed radiation beam(s) in a radiation direction(s). The control circuit controls a plurality of phase shifters to generate the modified downlink RF signals in the phases. By supporting antenna array beamforming in the remote unit, it is possible to steer the formed radiation beam(s) according to a specific floor layout(s) to provide enhanced indoor RF coverage in the WDS. As a result, it may be possible to reduce deployment and/or installation costs of the WDS.

Abstract: A transparent wireless bridge for providing access to an optical fiber network comprises a first transceiver outside a building and configured to transmit/receive communication signals to and from the optical fiber network. A first glass sheet attached to an outer side of a window comprises a first antenna communicatively coupled to the first transceiver and configured to transmit and receive communication signals to and from the first transceiver. A second glass sheet is attached to an inner side of the window and comprises a second antenna configured to wirelessly transmit and receive communication signals to and from the first antenna. The wireless bridge also includes a second transceiver located inside the building that is communicatively coupled to the second antenna and configured to wirelessly transmit and receive data to and from the second antenna. The wireless bridge may also be used in conjunction with a wireless drop system.
