    Abstract: Provided is a novel cellulose derivative having excellent water resistance. This is a cellulose acylate oxoalkanoate which is a cellulose derivative corresponding to cellulose, except with substituents replacing part or all of hydrogen atoms in the hydroxy groups of the cellulose. The substituents includes a group represented by General Formula (1) and a group represented by General Formula (2). The cellulose acylate oxoalkanoate has a degree x of substitution with the group represented by General Formula (1), a degree y of substitution with the group represented by General Formula (2), and a degree z of unsubstitution, where x, y, and z meet conditions specified by Expressions (A), (B), and (C): 0.1≦x≦2.99  (A) 0.01≦y≦2.90  (B) z=3−x−y  (C)

    Abstract: A molded article including a plant material is produced by a production method including: mixing a plant material containing lignocellulose with an organic acid; dissolving the plant material in the organic acid to produce a lignocellulose solution; and removing a liquid component from the lignocellulose solution to produce a solid content. This plant material is an unused portion of an agricultural crop. The molded article including a plant material contains lignocellulose derived from the plant material as a main component. This lignocellulose has a higher-order structure similar to the plant material. A laminate includes the molded article including the plant material and a sheet laminated on the molded article. The peel strength between the molded article and the sheet is 0.005 MPa or higher.

    Abstract: Provided is a semipermeable membrane with high chlorine resistance and high alkali resistance. A cellulose mixed ester represented by a structural formula of General Formula (I), wherein when X is an aromatic acyl group, a degree of substitution is from 2.91 to 3.0; the aromatic acyl group includes a benzoyl group (A) that may include a substituent, and an aromatic acyl group (B) containing a carboxyl group or a salt of a carboxyl group; when the degree of substitution is 3.0, a degree of substitution of the benzoyl group (A) that may include a substituent is from 2.4 to 2.95, and a degree of substitution of the aromatic acyl group (B) containing a carboxyl group or a salt of a carboxyl group is from 0.05 to 0.6; and in General Formula (I), all or part of Xs are aromatic acyl groups; when part of Xs are aromatic acyl groups, the remainder represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; and n represents an integer from 20 to 20000.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a eutectic mixture containing a first component and a second component as main components. The first component is a quaternary ammonium salt, and the second component is an aminocarboxylic acid and/or a derivative thereof, the aminocarboxylic acid having a —COOH group and an —NH— group in the same molecule. The eutectic mixture has a melting point, Tm, which is lower than the melting point of the first component, T1, and which is lower than the melting point of the second component, T2. The eutectic mixture is in a homogeneous liquid state at a temperature higher than the melting point, Tm. Disclosed is a liquid composition containing a third component dissolving in the eutectic mixture. The third component contains one or two or more selected from cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin.

    Abstract: A lignocellulose solution is produced by a production method including: coarsely pulverizing a biomass containing lignocellulose to obtain a coarse powder; mixing the coarse powder with an organic acid; and dissolving the coarse powder in the organic acid. A molded article containing lignocellulose as a main component is formed from this solution. The molded article has a density of less than 1.20 g/cm3. In one embodiment, the molded article is substantially free of an adhesive component. In another aspect, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin constituting the lignocellulose form an ester bond with an organic acid. A molded article according to still another embodiment has a density of less than 1.60 g/cm3 and an amount of functional groups bound to cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin of 0.35 or more and 0.60 or less.
