Abstract: A vehicular position estimation system estimates a portable terminal position with respect to a vehicle. Each of three or more in-vehicle communication devices is attached at a different position of the vehicle. Each of the multiple in-vehicle communication devices generates distance information indicating a distance from the in-vehicle communication device to the portable terminal. The vehicular position estimation system includes a position coordinate calculation portion that calculates a position coordinate of the portable terminal, and an area inside-outside determination portion that determines whether the portable terminal is inside the system actuation area.

Abstract: In a portable device position estimation system, a vehicle-mounted system includes a transceiver and intercept devices. The vehicle-mounted system determines a first propagation time being a propagation time of a wireless signal from the transceiver to a portable device, based on a round trip time being a time between the transceiver transmitting a response request signal and the transceiver receiving a response signal from the portable device. The vehicle-mounted system determines a second propagation time being a propagation time of a wireless signal from the portable device to the intercept device based on the round trip time and a signal reception interval being a time between the intercept device receiving the response request signal and the intercept device receiving the response signal.

Abstract: In a terminal position estimation system, a terminal position estimation apparatus, or a terminal position estimation method, an electric wave is received by a reception antenna of a communication terminal and is transmitted from multiple transmission antennas. A communication terminal position is estimated based on a magnetic field strength of the electric wave. When the communication terminal position is estimated, a position satisfying an approximate expression is estimated as the communication terminal position. The approximate expression shows a magnetic field strength distribution and is expressed by two variables of a distance from the multiple transmission antennas to the communication terminal and an angle between an axial direction of the multiple transmission antennas and a direction in which the communication terminal is positioned.

Abstract: A position determination system determines a position of a mobile terminal relative to a vehicle by a wireless communication. The position determination system includes: a communication device disposed in a vehicle compartment and configured to receive a wireless signal transmitted from the mobile terminal and detect a reception strength of the received wireless signal. The position determination system is configured to: determine whether the mobile terminal is existing in the vehicle compartment; estimate an amount of absorbers that exists in the vehicle compartment and may absorb radio waves having a frequency used for the wireless communication; adjust an inside determination value which is used as a threshold for determining that the mobile terminal is existing in the vehicle compartment; and determine that the mobile terminal is existing in the vehicle compartment in response to the inside device strength being equal to or greater than the inside determination value.

Abstract: A vehicular position estimation system determines a portable terminal position by causing multiple in-vehicle communication devices placed at different positions on a vehicle to wirelessly communicate with a potable terminal, and includes: a distance index value acquisition portion that acquires a distance index value indicating a distance between the multiple in-vehicle communication devices; a normal range storage portion that stores data indicating a normal range of the distance index value; and a communication device diagnosis portion that determines whether the in-vehicle communication device is normal. When the distance index value between a diagnosis target device and at least one different device is in a normal range, the communication device diagnosis portion determines that a failure does not occur in the diagnosis target device.
