Abstract: A perceived speed of motion associated with a user may be changed by determining a speed and a direction of the motion associated with the user within a reference frame. Augmented reality content may be determined for presentation on a display. A direction and a speed of motion associated with the augmented reality content within the reference frame may be determined. The direction of motion associated with the augmented reality content may oppose the direction of motion associated with the user. The speed of motion associated with the augmented reality content may increase as the speed of motion associated with the user increases. The augmented reality content may be presented such that the augmented reality content appears to move toward and past a position associated with the user at the perceived speed that is faster than the speed of motion associated with the user.

Abstract: In various embodiments, a map inference application automatically maps a user space. A camera is positioned within the user space. In operation, the map inference application determines a path of a first moving object within the user space based on a tracking dataset generated from images captured by the camera. Subsequently, the map inference application infers a walking space within the user space based on the path. The map inference application then generates a model of at least a portion of the user space based on the walking space. One or more movements of a second object within the user space are based on the model. Advantageously, unlike prior art solutions, the map inference application enables a model of a user space to be automatically and efficiently generated based on images from a single stationary camera.

Abstract: In various embodiments, a storyboarding application generates a storyboard for a media title. In operation, the storyboarding application determines a categorization for a first portion of the media item. The storyboarding application then determines a first media item based on at least one of the categorization or a caption associated with the first portion of the media title. Subsequently, the storyboarding application modifies the first media item based on at least one of the categorization or a character associated with the caption to generate a second media item. The storyboarding application then generates a sequence of media items for the storyboard that includes the second media item. Advantageously, because the storyboarding application can automatically generate media items for storyboards based on categorizations and/or captions, the storyboarding application can reduce both the manual effort and time required to generate storyboards relative to prior art techniques.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a charm application enables user devices to communicate via physical charms. Upon receiving, from a first user device, a read request that is associated with the physical charm, the charm application identifies a message and an authorization list that are associated with the physical charm and previously received from a second user device. The charm application then determines whether a first user associated with the first user device is authorized to read the message based on the authorization list. If the first user is authorized to read the message, then the charm application transmits the message to the first user device. Notably, each physical charm may be exchanged between any number of users, but only read by authorized users via a user device. Accordingly, user devices may communicate private messages including any type of data with other user devices irrespective of whether technical infrastructures are accessible.

Abstract: In various embodiments, an interactive streaming application plays back a media title via a client device. In operation, the interactive streaming application causes the client device to playback a first chunk of the media title. While the client device plays back the first chunk, the interactive streaming application determines a movement of an internet of things (“IoT”) device that is controlled by the user. The interactive streaming application performs reinforcement-learning operation(s) based on the first chunk and the movement to determine a second chunk of the media title to playback. The interactive streaming application then causes the client device to playback the second chunk of the media title. Advantageously, the interactive streaming application can automatically personalize the playback of the media title for the user based, at least in part, on movements of the IoT device.
