Abstract: The present invention provides additives for dry mix or tape joint compound compositions comprising one or more cellulose ether powders containing on its surface a polymeric additive chosen from polymeric colloidal stabilizers, polymeric fluidizers and combinations thereof. The additive is formed by methods of kneading at from 50 to 120° C. a wet cellulose ether mixture containing from 60 to 80 wt. % of water with from 0.1 to 10 wt. %, based on total cellulose ether solids, of a polymeric additive chosen from polymeric colloidal stabilizers, and polymeric fluidizers, and combinations thereof to form the additive; drying and grinding the additive; and, combining the additive with 0.1 to 20 wt. %, based on total cellulose ether solids, of a dry polyacrylamide.

Abstract: The present invention provides dry mix compositions for use in making gypsum plasters or mortars comprising gypsum, preferably, phosphorous gypsum one or more retarder, and one or more crosslinked cellulose ethers containing polyether groups. Abstract: A three-dimensionally printed article is comprised of a hydroxyethyl methylcellulose (HEMC) having a DS of 1.7 to 2.5 and an MS of at least 0.5, wherein DS is the degree of substitution of methoxyl groups and MS is the molar substitution of hydroxyethoxyl groups. The HEMC may advantageously be used as a support material when making a three-dimensionally printed article using a build material such as a different thermoplastic polymer such as a poly(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene), polylactic acid, polyethylene and polyprophylene. When the HEMC is a support material it may be easily removed from the build material by contacting the three dimensionally printed article with water, which may be at ambient temperatures and a pH that is neutral or close to neutral.

Abstract: The present invention provides additives for dry mix or tape joint compound compositions comprising one or more cellulose ether powders containing on its surface one or more hydrophobic alkali swellable emulsion polymer (HASE), preferably, one that is not crosslinked or which comprises, in copolymerized form, no multi-ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and, optionally, an inorganic basic filler. The present invention also provides methods to make the additive comprising kneading at from 50 to 120° C. a wet cellulose ether mixture containing from 50 to 80 wt. % of water with from 0.5 to 25 wt. %, based on total cellulose ether solids, of the hydrophobic alkali swellable emulsion polymer; if desired, adding an inorganic basic filler, and drying and grinding. The additive can be combined with 0.1 to 20 wt. %, based on total cellulose ether solids, of a dry polyacrylamide.

Abstract: The present invention provides aqueous compositions that are stable after at least a 24 hour period comprising a polysaccharide viscosity modifying additive and more than 60 wt. %, based on the weight of total solids in the compositions of one or more polycarboxylate ether, the compositions comprising an acid chosen from an organic acid having 1 hydroxy group or less, a strong acid containing a single hydrogen, an ascorbic acid, and mixtures thereof, the compositions having a pH of less than the pH of the polycarboxylate ether itself, or from 1.0 to 6.0. The present invention enables stable concentrates of aqueous polycarboxylate ethers and polysaccharide viscosity modifying agents for use in hydraulic binder applications, the compositions having a total solids content of 10 wt. % to as high as 65 wt. %.
