A combined electronic clinical thermometer and pacifier includes a housing, an integral mouth-piece, a temperature sensitive element which has a transducer and a pair of wire leads, a circuit board which is disposed within the housing, a temperature oscillating circuit, a body temperature measuring circuit and a digital display device. The integral mouth-piece has a stop ring flange portion and a flexible nipple portion in which the transducer is disposed so that the combined electronic clinical thermometer and pacifier can easily and safely take the temperature of either an infant or a small child. The housing has a front face and is mechanically coupled to the stop ring flange portion. When the flexible nipple portion is inserted into the mouth the transducer detects a body temperature. The temperature oscillating circuit is electrically coupled to the pair of wire leads of the temperature sensitive element and is disposed on the circuit board. The body temperature measuring circuit is electrically coupled to the temperature oscillating circuit and is disposed on the circuit board. The digital display device is electrically coupled to the body temperature measuring circuit and is disposed on the circuit board. The temperature sensitive element has a sensing button. The flexible nipple portion of the integral mouth-piece has an outer sidewall and an inner sidewall with an opening in order to allow the sensing button, which is disposed in the opening, to be adjacent and contiguous to the outer sidewall.

This invention relates to a method and apparatus for measuring the optical power of soft contact lenses having a lens holding apparatus which is mountable on known prior art lensmeter structures. The lens holding apparatus includes a basic support housing means, a lens holder assembly mounted on the basic support housing means, and a lens conditioner means connected to the basic support housing means and operably engagable with the lens holder assembly. The lens holder assembly includes a contoured lens support member having a transparent lens support surface to substantially duplicate the outer contour and size of a person's eye. The lens conditioner means includes a lens wiper assembly operable through an actuator linkage assembly to move a wiper blade member over the contoured lens support member with a soft contact lens mounted thereon to provide a wetting action on both sides of the soft contact lens to duplicate the conditions when worn on the cornea of a person's eye. This operation substantially duplicates the condition of the soft contact lens as being worn on the cornea of a person's eye. The method of this invention relates to optical power measurement with the use of a lens support member being (1) cleansing; (2) wetting; (3) wiping; (4) measuring the soft contact lens; and (5) periodically rewetting and operating the device as required.

Another type of varactor disclosed is an MOS varactor which includes at least a poly gate region and a well region wherein the poly gate region and the well region have opposite polarities.

A long distance auxiliary drive tender for railroad locomotives which stores significant quantities of fuel and delivers the fuel to the locomotives while underway and which also includes traction motor drive axles powered by the locomotive generators. The traction motors are also capable of providing dynamic braking. Preferably, the auxiliary drive tender will also store and transfer lubrication oil, water, and sand for the locomotives. The auxiliary drive tender operates much like a B-unit in conventional MU operations except that it does not have its own power source.

The rod has a first end, a second end and a groove which is disposed between the first and second ends and is formed out of a light transmitting plastic material. The electrical source is mechanically coupled to the collar and electrically coupled to the light source. The first and second tubes are concentrically aligned and rotatively coupled to the rod and disposed between the groove and the first and second ends, respectively. Each of the first and second tube has an outer sidewall through which the output of light passes. The first and second caps secure the first and second tubes to the rod. Each of the first and second tubes has a plurality of fins which rotatively drive the first and second tubes counter-clockwise and clockwise about the rod.
