摘要: A backing plate support system is provided for a mailpiece feeder mechanism wherein mailpieces are conveyed vertically, on-edge along a transport deck to a transfer station for subsequent sortation and delivery. The backing plate support system includes a guide track disposed along and adjacent to the transport deck and a plurality of backing plates each having a guide support fitting at its base. The guide support fitting engages the guide track and supports the backing plate in an orthogonal position relative to the transport deck. The backing plate support system, furthermore, includes an advancing belt disposed adjacent the guide track and adapted to be driven linearly along the transport deck and a mechanism for coupling each backing plate to the advancing belt. The mechanism facilitates relative movement of the backing support plate relative to the advancing belt in one direction while inhibiting relative motion thereof in an opposing direction. Furthermore, the mechanism facilitates optimum spacing between pairs of backing plates when mailpieces are stacked therebetween by a system operator. In one embodiment of the invention, a controller is operable to preposition each of the backing plates such that the operator may stack mailpieces against one backing plate and, on the command of the operator, introduce a second backing plate to support any thickness of stacked mailpieces.

摘要: A drive screw having an axial bore is disposed within a tubular container. A cap for closing the container has mounted therefrom an applicator that is insertable in the bore of the drive screw. A first seal and a second seal, on the drive screw, form with the inner wall of the container and the outer wall of the drive screw an annular compartment for housing a cosmetic composition. A normally closed channel is provided between the compartment and the bore of the drive screw. A drive on the cap and a complementary drive on the drive screw cooperate with the first seal and the second seal to decrease the volume of the compartment in which the composition is housed each time the container is opened by removing the cap. A valve opens the channel in response to the decrease in volume in the compartment when the cap is removed so as to permit composition to flow through the channel into the bore of the drive screw to contact the applicator.

摘要: A method of fabricating a display system includes bonding a silicon substrate to a second substrate with an insulating layer. The silicon substrate is thinned to form a thin film silicon-on-insulator (SOI) structure. A matrix display circuit is formed with the SOI structure. A light shield pattern is formed over regions of the matrix display circuit. A light source, the matrix display circuit and a magnifying lens are positioned within a display housing such that light from the light source is directed onto the display and an image on the display is magnified by the lens for viewing by a user.

Pixel arrays form light valves or switches that can be fabricated with color filter elements over the pixel elements. 摘要: A flexible backplane assembly is provided wherein removable backplane modules are mounted in a platform in a manner such that the backplane modules may be removed and replaced to accommodate different types of circuit modules. Coacting guides are provided on the platform and the backplane modules to define a travel path for module insertion and removal which prevents contact with adjacent circuit and backplane modules and maneuvers around platform structural members. Connectors at the rear of each backplane module for mating withy circuit module connectors may be electrically connected to I/O boards at the front of the module to permit wiring of the backplane modules from the front of the platform.
