The present invention provides a method for making a method for making high service temperature rubber compound, hot melt adhesive or sealant compositions by combining a polyphenylene ether resin with an elastomeric block copolymer of a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon and a conjugated diene, which comprises (a) making a masterbatch of 2 to 50 phr of a polyphenylene ether having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.3 deciliters per gram or more and 100 phr of said block copolymer by extruding them together with 2 to 30 phr of an endblock compatible resin, and (b) optionally mixing the masterbatch with more of the block copolymer.

A footwear composition having a simulated suede appearance is prepared by melt blending a monoalkenyl arene/diene block copolymer, oil, silica filler, styrene polymer, pigment and synthetic fiber at a temperature below the melting point of the fiber. The synthetic fiber is preferably selected from the group consisting of polyamide fibers, polyester fibers, acrylic fibers, and mixtures thereof.

A laminated structure comprising a plurality of polymeric layers at least two of said polymeric layers bonded together with an adhesive composition comprising a modified olefin polymer and at least one selectively hydrogenated block copolymer having at least one block which is predominantly a monoalkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon polymer block and at least one block which is a hydrogenated conjugated diolefin polymeric block. The adhesive composition used in the laminated structure significantly improves compatibility of the various polymeric layers thereby enabling the laminated structure or any excess thereof to be used in recycle as well as various molding applications.
