摘要： A volume controlling system and method for regulating the output volume of a headset in order to protect the hearing ability of a user. The system includes a volume sensor/controller for monitoring the volume output of the headset by adjusting the volume to be within a predetermined threshold. A warning indicator indicates to the user or a person monitoring the listening user that the volume is set too high. The method include the steps of comparing the received audio signal to the predetermined volume threshold and adjusting the volume accordingly. The method also includes the steps of notifying that the volume has been set at too high a level by providing a warning signal, such as an audible or visual alarm.

摘要： The invention detects signs of emerging illness, such as flu, skin cancer, backache, etc., among the general population and individuals. The detection of symptoms of illness is performed through the utilization of embedded devices equipped with various sensors, such as cameras, glasses, wrist watches, TVs, fire warning systems, and having the ability to analyze the detected information and to transmit that information via wireless and regular communication channels to a central server for a more detailed analysis and possible action. The information about locally detected symptoms is gathered at central location and processed to ascertain whether there is a new epidemic of a flu, therefore enabling early shipment of a flu vaccine which prevents the spread of the disease.

摘要： A language recognition system, method and program product for recognizing language based input from computer users on a network of connected computers. Each computer includes at least one user based language model trained for a corresponding user for automatic speech recognition, handwriting recognition, machine translation, gesture recognition or other similar actions that require interpretation of user activities. Network computer users are clustered into classes of similar users according to user similarities such as, nationality, profession, sex, age, etc. User characteristics are collected by sensors and from databases and, then, distributed over the network during user activities. Language models with similarities among similar users on the network are identified. The language models include a language model domain, with similar language models being clustered according to their domains. Language models identified as similar are modified in response to user production activities. After modification of one language model, other identified similar language models are compared and adapted. Also, user data, including information about user activities and language model data, is transmitted over the network to other similar users. Language models are adapted only in response to similar user activities, when these activities are recorded and transmitted over the network. Language models are given a global context based on similar users that are connected together over the network.

摘要： A speech recognition system, method and program product for recognizing speech input from computer users connected together over a network of computers. Speech recognition computer users on the network are clustered into classes of similar users according their similarities, including characteristics nationality, profession, sex, age, etc. Each computer in the speech recognition network includes at least one user based acoustic model trained for a particular user. The acoustic models include an acoustic model domain, with similar acoustic models being clustered according to an identified domain. User characteristics are collected from databases over the network and from users using the speech recognition system and then, distributed over the network during or after user activities. Existing acoustic models are modified in response to user production activities. As recognition progresses, similar language models among similar users are identified on the network. Update information, including information about user activities and user acoustic model data, is transmitted over the network and identified similar language models are updated. Acoustic models improve for users that are connected over the network as similar users use their respective speech recognition system.

摘要： A system and method is disclosed for producing an advertisement that is optimized to a particular user or group of users for a current transaction and is presented to such users at the point of sale or transaction terminal at a public location. The transaction terminal produces current transaction data that includes customer identity, and goods/services being purchased and their prices. The current transaction data is sent to an advertisement server via a network such as the Internet. The advertisement server implements a user database device, a goods database and an advertisement database to locate an existing advertisement or create a new advertisement that is optimized according to common characteristics of the particular group. The optimized advertisement is sent to the transaction terminal for presentation to the user on a monitor or like display device or, printed on a sales receipt.

摘要： A system is provided having a plurality of sensors for affixing to a person's torso, hands, feet, head, etc. The function of each sensor is to determine the distance between itself and the other sensors to ascertain the distance between the hands and feet, for instance, in order to measure the relative activity of a person's hands and feet. Other sensors, placed on the individual or in the individual's environment, may obtain biological data relating to the person, such as heart pulse, blood pressure, or data relating to the individual's attention level, i.e., gaze data. The system further includes a processor having a memory for storing data collected from the sensors. The data collected by the sensors and stored in the memory provide at least information about different types of movements associated with a particular set of tasks. The processor is programmed with a set of instructions to relate the movements associated with work with different levels of productivity, and even different levels of performing work, e.g., whether the work is being performed carefully or not, i.e., whether the same movements for a given task vary from slow to quick or whether they have a constant pace. The processor is preferably in a remote location and obtains the sensed data via a network. The system is also capable of analyzing sensed data obtained from different individuals, providing feedback to the individuals regarding their level of productivity, either alone or as a group, and offering advice on improving their level of productivity.
