Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve includes a frame assembly, a plurality of prosthetic leaflets mounted within the frame assembly, an atrial flange portion extending from the frame assembly, and a plurality of ventricular anchors. The frame assembly includes an inflow end and an outflow end. The atrial flange portion includes a plurality of atrial anchors. The atrial flange portion is configured to contact an atrial face of a native atrioventricular region when the prosthetic heart valve is implanted at the native atrioventricular region. Each ventricular anchor includes a free end portion and a fixed end portion connected to the frame assembly at a location spaced from the frame assembly's outflow end. Each ventricular anchor is configured to extend behind one of a plurality of native leaflets of the native atrioventricular region when the prosthetic heart valve is implanted at the native atrioventricular region.

Abstract: A system including a delivery apparatus, a crimping device, and a loading assembly. The crimping device includes a housing disposed over a distal end portion of the delivery apparatus for receiving a radially expandable and compressible prosthetic heart valve. The housing includes a funnel segment, a pusher member, and an actuator releasably coupled to the pusher member. Movement of the actuator causes the pusher member to advance the prosthetic heart valve through the funnel segment for radially compressing at least a portion of the prosthetic heart valve. Compression of the prosthetic heart valve facilitates secure attachment of the prosthetic heart valve to the delivery apparatus. The loading assembly can include an additional funnel member for fully crimping and loading the prosthetic heart valve into the delivery apparatus for advancement through a patient's vasculature.

Abstract: A prosthetic valve includes an expandable valve frame and leaflets supported therein. A plurality of elongate anchor arms extends from an outlet end portion of the valve frame. Each elongate anchor arm includes anchoring protrusions, such as barbs, for engaging surrounding tissue. During delivery to the treatment site, the anchoring protrusions face inwardly. When released from the delivery catheter, the anchoring arms evert such that the anchoring protrusions reverse orientation and face outwardly. In this position, the protrusions can engage surrounding tissue and thereby secure the prosthetic valve within a native heart valve.

Abstract: Embodiments of a prosthetic heart valve comprise an annular main body, an atrial cap extending radially outwardly from the atrial end of the main body, and a plurality of ventricular anchors extending outwardly from the ventricular end of the main body. Each ventricular anchor can have a proximal end portion connected to the ventricular end, an intermediate portion extending away from the atrial end and then back toward the atrial so as to define a first bend, and a free distal end portion that extends from the intermediate portion. The distal end portion can comprise a first section, a second section, and a second bend between the first and second sections, the first section extending from the intermediate portion in a direction toward the atrial end and radially away from the main body.

The prosthesis is collapsible for delivery into the heart via a delivery catheter. The prosthesis is configured to self-expand for deployment in the heart when released from the delivery catheter.

Abstract: A method for replacing a native heart valve includes advancing a delivery catheter having a valve prosthesis disposed along a distal end portion thereof, wherein the valve includes an inner frame having an hourglass shape and an outer sealing frame connected to and surrounding the inner frame. A valve body is mounted within the inner frame and includes a plurality of leaflets. The leaflets have longitudinal curvatures when in an open position, wherein the curvatures are shaped for conforming to the curved interior surface of the inner frame. This combination of features reduces the possibility of blood stagnating between the leaflets and inner frame, which reduces the possibility of thrombus formation.

Abstract: A heart valve prosthesis for replacing a native mitral valve includes a self-expanding frame with a plurality of anchoring members disposed along the lower region. A valve body is positioned within the self-expanding frame and includes a plurality of leaflets configured to allow blood flow through the self-expanding frame in only one direction. A skirt surrounds the self-expanding frame and is spaced apart therefrom for contacting surrounding tissue and impeding blood flow around the self-expanding frame. The skirt may be reinforced with wires to help maintain a desired shape. The leaflets in the valve body are preferably connected to the self-expanding frame through one or more intermediate components such that the valve body is spaced radially inwardly from an inner surface of the self-expanding frame.
