Abstract: Examples of transection devices are disclosed. One example includes an elongated body having a U-shaped notch, wherein the U-shaped notch includes a wall surface extending from a surface of the elongated body and an upper extension extending from the wall surface substantially parallel with the longitudinal axis of the elongated body. An incision member located in the U-shaped notch preferably extends from the elongated body toward the extension of the U-shaped notch at an angle. The incision member is well suited for cutting pericardial tissue as it passes through the U-shaped notch.

Abstract: An implant for adding compliance to a blood vessel includes a first elongate rail shaped to contact an inner wall of a blood vessel and a second elongate rail shaped to contact an opposing inner wall of the blood vessel. Connectors extend between the first and second rails for providing a separation therebetween and maintaining the rails at locations on opposing sides of the lumen after implantation. The connectors push the rails outwardly for biasing the blood vessel toward a substantially oval shape. The connectors are preferably flexible for allowing the blood vessel to change shape during use for adding compliance to the blood vessel. The elongate rails are preferably curved or hemi-spherical for conforming to the shape of the inner wall of the blood vessel.

Abstract: A belt for an implantable prosthetic device can include an annular body including a plurality of alternating peaks and valleys and a plurality of frangible members extending between at least one of adjacent peaks and adjacent valleys. The annular body can be radially expandable from a radially compressed configuration to a first diameter upon application of a radially outwardly directed force via an expandable implantable prosthetic device. A first frangible member of the plurality of frangible members can be configured to break when the radially outwardly directed force exceeds a first predetermined threshold to allow radial expansion of the annular body to a second diameter.
