    摘要： Reclosable packages containing food product that can be exposed to cooking temperatures without rupture of the product compartment. The various disclosed embodiments have the following common features: means for forming a first interior volume that is hermetically sealed, at least a portion of the first interior volume containing product; means for forming a second interior volume that is in fluid communication with the exterior of the package via a vent hole and is not in fluid communication with the first interior volume; and frangible means designed to rupture when the pressure inside the first interior volume increases to a predetermined level during cooking. The second interior volume will be in fluid communication with the first interior volume as a result of rupture of the frangible means.

    摘要： Zippers are provided for reclosable packages or bags. By selectively co-extruding a first portion of the zipper with a shrinkable or expandable material, and simultaneously co-extruding a second portion of the zipper with a dimensionally stable thermoplastic or similar material, followed by a step of activating the shrinkage or expansion of the shrinkable material, several different shapes of zipper can be achieved. For instance, by co-extruding the shrinkable material to a lower portion of the zipper or co-extruding the expandable material to an upper portion of the zipper, an upwardly arching or convex shape can be achieved. Similarly, by co-extruding the shrinkable material to an upper portion of the zipper or co-extruding the expandable material to a lower portion of the zipper, a downwardly arching or concave shape can be achieved. Similarly, by co-extruding the shrinkable material to inner portions of the zipper or the expandable material to outer portions of the zipper, a self-opening characteristic may be added to the zipper. Additionally, zippers may be placed at inclined positions in a complementary head-to-head configuration in order to eliminate or reduce waste of packaging material during manufacture.

    摘要： A generally tube-shaped package that has a tear strip joined to a web of packaging film, the tear strip incorporating an encapsulated tear notch. The package is filled with cookie or bread dough. In accordance with one embodiment, the tear strip is part of a tape that is joined to a web of packaging film. Preferably, the tear strip has a tear bead. Optionally, tearing off of the tear strip provides access to a peel seal, which in turn must be sundered to gain access to the dough. In accordance with another embodiment, the tear strip comprises a portion of a web of packaging film, which portion is bounded by a pair of mutually parallel capped tear lines. A tear bead is disposed between the tear lines. Methods of manufacturing such packages are disclosed.

    摘要： This disclosure pertains to a forming device used in the formation of a package with a self-mating reclosure, where a single self-mating closure wraps around the periphery of the forming device, and one end of the zipper segment extends into the lap seal of the forming device. Alternatively, one or two ends of the zipper segment could extend into a fin seal. The self-mating reclosure is mounted transversely on the sheet of web or film and includes at least one crushed end proximate to one edge of the sheet of web or film. The self-mating closure may be pre-crushed, prior to attachment to the sheet of web or film, or may be crushed after the sheet of web or film is wrapped around a forming device or similar structure.
