摘要： The method and apparatus relates to providing a slit, perforation, line of weakness or similar structure in a flange of a zipper for a reclosable package or bag, including a high-capacity zipper. The slit, perforation, line of weakness or similar structure provides an opening for filling the reclosable package or bag without the need to separate the zipper profiles from each other. After filling, the opening is sealed and the cosmetic appearance of the reclosable package or bag is maintained.

摘要： A method of manufacturing flexible containers that are hermetically resealable. Each resealable container comprises a receptacle and a pair of plastic zipper strips. The zipper strips are flattened at the ends within the side seal regions and are joined to each other, without substantial deformation of the closure profiles, in respective transition areas substantially contiguous with the side seals. These transition areas of zipper strip joinder assist in providing a leakproof transition from the openable section of the zipper to the side seals, where the closure profiles are fused and flattened (i.e., crushed).

摘要： Flexible containers that are hermetically resealable are disclosed herein. Each resealable container comprises a receptacle and a pair of plastic zipper strips. 摘要： The embodiments include a wide mouth gusseted package wherein four machine direction edge seals are formed on the film, and the zipper is applied in the transverse direction on the opposite side of the film from where the machine direction edge seals are formed. In the resulting package, the edge seals are at the exterior of the four corners of the package, and the resulting gussets can be folded inwardly or outwardly. The package may further include a sealing strip with a peel seal layer and a sealant layer whereby a hermetic package may be produced at higher production rates and lower productions costs.

An alternative embodiment forms an air pocket in the shroud to protect the slider.

摘要： The disclosure relates to a semi-soft cap or patch which is secured by adhesive to a slider on a zipper in a reclosable package. This cap or patch prevents the slider from puncturing the web or film of the bag during high pressure pasteurization. Further, the cap or patch is secured to a tear-away header which is formed as a shroud over the zipper. This allows the user to tear off the header which likewise removes the cap or patch from the slider. The header, with the cap or patch still attached thereto, can thereafter be disposed of as a single piece.

摘要： The disclosure pertains to methods for inserting a soft cap onto a slider in order to protect the slider from damaging the package film of a reclosable bag during high pressure pasteurization. A first embodiment discloses manual or automated insertion of the soft cap onto the slider, prior to inserting the slider/cap assembly onto a length of zipper. A second embodiment discloses automated insertion of the soft cap onto a slider which is already mounted on a length of reclosable zipper. A third embodiment uses an insert molding process with a first mold cavity to form the slider and a second mold cavity to form the soft cap over the slider. A fourth embodiment uses a dual shot molding process in a single mold cavity to form both the slider and the soft cap thereover.
