摘要： A method of driving a liquid crystal display device includes extracting brightness components of a portion of the first data for a current frame, arranging the brightness components for the current frame into a brightness histogram, retrieving brightness histograms for at least two frames prior to the current frame to generate an average histogram, generating second data for the current frame based on the average histogram, comparing the histogram for the current frame with the average histogram to determine whether an image at the current frame is a moving image or a still image, and driving the liquid crystal display device in accordance with one of the first data and the second data based on the comparison result.

摘要： A driving method and apparatus for a liquid crystal display for minimizing motion blur in a moving picture as well as displaying a fresh and dynamic image is disclosed. In the driving method, data inputted from the exterior are converted into brightness components to produce a histogram for each frame. A control value is extracted from various characteristics of the histogram. Turn-on times of a plurality of lamps positioned in such a manner to overlap with a liquid crystal display panel are controlled in correspondence with the control value.

摘要： The liquid crystal display device includes a histogram analyzer analyzing a histogram of an input image and determining the input image as being in one of a low brightness mode, a normal mode, and a high brightness mode based on the histogram analysis, a back light controller controlling a maximum brightness of a back light unit based on the mode determination, and a data modulator enlarging the histogram of the input image to modulate data of the input image. The histogram analyzer detects a most frequent value of gray scale occurring most frequently in the input image of one frame, compares the most frequent value with a predetermined low reference gray value and a predetermined high reference gray value, and determines the input image as in one of the low brightness mode, the normal mode, and the high brightness mode based on the compared result.

The inverters mechanically couple a cover which supports a liquid crystal display panel and a backlight. Each of the inverters is spaced apart from a substantial heat generating electrode region. The inverters are configured to supply power to the backlight. One method of assembling a liquid crystal display includes positioning the inverters; disposing a reflecting sheet below the inverters; electrically coupling the inverters to a light source; mechanically coupling the inverters to the cover; and disposing a plurality of electrodes above the inverters such that the inverters and portions of the electrodes do not lie in a common vertical plane.

摘要： A liquid crystal panel includes a plurality of display regions that correspond to the division images. The number of the division images can be set with consideration of the number of lamps covering the display regions. The average brightness of an entire image is compared with the average brightness of the division images so as to vary brightness of each division image according to a comparison result. Light that corresponds to the varied brightness is illuminated to each display region. Therefore, a dark division image is displayed darker and a bright division image is displayed brighter in the image of one frame, thereby enhancing a contrast ratio and reducing power consumption.
