摘要： Provided is a catalyst including a mixture of metal A selected from Fe, Co and Ni, and metal B selected from Zn and Ga, and a support material, where the two metals are present in an intermetallic composition; A method for the manufacture of the catalyst; and the use of the catalyst for the selective hydrogenation of acetylene to ethylene in a gas mixture including acetylenic impurities and hydrogen, and one or more of ethylene and carbon monoxide. The catalyst has a high selectivity and is based an easily available metal compounds.

The composition includes an alloy of at least two different metals M and M′, where M is selected from Ni, Pd, Ir, and Ru, and M′ is selected from Ga, Zn, and Al. A molar ratio of M to M′ is in the range of 1:10 to 10:1, and the alloy is configured to catalyze a reduction of CO2 to methanol.
