摘要: An optical switching unit including mechanisms for receiving a beam of light consisting of a plurality of component rays of different wavelengths, separating the light by making use of the reflection characteristic of suitable spectroscopic elements into the component rays to be lead to corresponding light-conductive paths, selecting either the interruption or transmission of the component rays by means of light-shielding plates provided in the respective light-conductive paths, and collecting the components rays to again compose a composite ray of the beam of light to be let out.The respective light-conductive paths are connected in parallel and have their light-separating branched portions arranged in series. In each of the branched portions is disposed a corresponding one of the spectroscopic elements, which corresponding one has its reflection characteristic reflectable of a corresponding component ray and a component ray reflectable by at least a one-stage preceding spectroscopic element.

摘要: A throwaway insert and a cutting tool enable a high speed cutting operation for a metallic material having great ductility such as aluminum and obtaining a vertical wall with a high quality machined surface while improving chip control. The throwaway insert comprises a major cutting edge including a tapered cutting edge connected to a cutting edge of a nose portion, and a curved cutting edge connected to an end of the tapered cutting edge at a connection point. The curved cutting edge is formed so as to extend along an imaginary cylindrical surface whose center axis coincides with the axis of rotation of a tool main body, and tapered cutting edge is formed so as to gradually curve from the imaginary cylindrical surface toward the inside of the imaginary cylindrical surface as the distance from the curved cutting edge increases, and the distance from the nose portion decreases. The throwaway insert is attached to the tool main body in which the surface of the distal end thereof is machined so that surface roughness thereof is less than 3.2 μm when indicated by the Ry roughness.

摘要: A cutting method using a vibratory cutting tool enables efficient creation of chips by breaking or separating of chips, and can retard both a deterioration of machined surface roughness of a workpiece and an increase in cutting resistance. The vibration of the cutting tool is controlled so that the following expressions are satisfied when letting a period of rotation of a workpiece be T, a period of vibration of the cutting tool be t.sub.total, the time required for the cutting edge to move from a farthest position in the feed direction to a farthest position in the direction opposite to the feed direction be t.sub.d, and the time required for moving from the farthest position in the direction opposite to the feed direction to a next farthest position in the feed direction be t.sub.u in the period of vibration of the cutting edge: T.apprxeq.t.sub.total .times.n+t.sub.d, where n is 0 or a positive integer; and t.sub.d .noteq.t.sub.u.

摘要: An apparatus for detecting internal pressure of a can has a reaction detector comprising two sets of fixed members and load cells arranged slightly narrower than the outside diameter of a can body and in a slightly different spaced apart from each other and a buckling detection sensor for detecting a displacement of the center of a cover. The reaction detector and the buckling detection sensor are mounted on a frame adjustable in position according to the kind of cans to be tested. The can is made to pass between two fixed members and load cells while being held by side retaining belts provided along the conveyor while being prevented from rotation. The same part of a can body is forced with different amounts of force and the reaction at that time is measured and converted into internal pressure of the can. The internal pressure of a can is thus measured accurately by this apparatus even if there are deviations in the roundness of the can body. The cover buckling detection sensor detects a can having an excessively high internal pressure which gives rise to buckling.

摘要: The objective of the present invention is to obtain an effective defoaming effect by directing a pulsed sound wave generated by shock caused by laser-induced breakdown to a liquid surface using an acoustic waveguide. A reflected wave of the pulsed sound wave generated by shock caused by laser-induced breakdown on an inner circumference face of the acoustic waveguide is directed to an opening part of the acoustic waveguide opposed to the liquid surface, and variations in periods of time in which the reflected wave in each travelling direction arrives at the opening part are reduced.

Two side blade-position detecting sensors are also provided at both sides of the center sensor and opposite the side adjacent areas of the cutting area. Three electromagnets are provided at corresponding positions to the sensors respectively, in order to control the deviations of the blade at each measuring point in accordance with the output signals of the sensors. Furthermore, a controlling device is provided in order to control currents to be supplied to the electromagnets in accordance with output signals from the sensors.

摘要: A solid end mill is provided which can prolong the useful life of the tool, without any adhesion to the work material, even aluminum or similar material, during a or cutting or drilling operation. The solid end mill includes a chip discharge flute, which is formed in the outer periphery of a nearly cylindrical tool main body. The nearly cylindrical tool main body rotates around a central longitudinal axis. A cutting edge is formed at a ridge portion on the outer periphery of the tool main body. The cutting edge is adjacent to a wall surface constituting a rake face of the chip discharge flute. The rake face faces in the tool rotational direction. A convex portion may be formed so as to be adjacent to and raised from a concavely curved portion. The concavely curved portion stretches to the cutting edge and is formed between the flute bottom of the chip discharge flute and the cutting edge.
