摘要: Embodiments are provided herein for determining a synchronizing master for device-to-device (D2D) communication in a cellular network environment. In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) receives a discovery signal comprising a timing reference, and determines a transmitter of the discovery signal. In accordance with the determination of the transmitter of the discovery signal, the UE performs one of synchronizing to the timing reference in the discovery signal and transmitting a second discovery signal. The UE performs the synchronizing to the timing reference if the transmitter of the discovery is a cellular network. Alternatively, the UE transmits the second discovery signal upon determining that the transmitter of the discovery signal is a second UE that is out of coverage of a cellular network.

摘要: Embodiments are provide for communicating data or other non-control information messages within a downlink control channel directly, rather than in a data channel or broadcast channel. Thereby, radio resource utilization can be substantially improved in the cellular system, such as in the case of transmitting smaller data packets. In an embodiment, a transmitter arranges a set of time-frequency radio resources, associated with a downlink control channel, for transmitting information other than control information sent on the downlink control channel. The transmitter then sends, on the set of time-frequency radio resources, a data information message comprising the information other than the control information. The information other than the control information comprises one of user-specific data information and broadcast data information. A receiver then receives on the downlink control channel, control information and the data information message.

摘要: System and method embodiments are provided for controlling and managing in-network device-to-device (D2D) communications. In an embodiment, a method for a UE performing device-to-device (D2D) communication includes generating a D2D buffer status report (BSR) for a D2D communication link between the UE and a second UE that provides information related to an amount of D2D data available for transmission, wherein the D2D BSR comprises a D2D BSR logical channel identifier (LCID); transmitting the D2D BSR in a control element; receiving, a resource allocation for the D2D link; and transmitting D2D data over the allocated resources.

摘要: A transmit power control rule for device-to-device (D2D) transmissions may not be necessary during periods in which no uplink transmissions are scheduled to be received by an enhanced Node B base station (eNB). When uplink transmissions are not scheduled to be received by the eNB, the eNB may send a transmit power control (TPC) command to a D2D capable user equipment (D2D UE) that instructs the D2D UE to perform a D2D transmission at a pre-defined transmit power level (e.g., maximum transmit power level). When uplink transmissions are scheduled to be received the eNB, the eNB may send a TPC command to the D2D UE that instructs the D2D UE to perform a D2D transmission at a transmit power level defined by a power control rule.

摘要: A method for device-to-device (D2D) communication includes determining that a first user equipment (UE) is out-of-coverage, the first UE having been previously in-coverage on a first cell. The method also includes starting a timer upon determining that the first UE is out-of-coverage and determining whether the first UE has returned to be in-coverage after starting the timer. Additionally, the method includes determining whether the timer has expired and communicating, by the first UE directly with a second UE, using out-of-coverage resources from the first cell when the timer has not expired and the first UE has not returned to be in-coverage.

摘要: A device is configured to perform a method of wireless communication in a wireless communication network. The method includes receiving, from a communications controller, a device-to-device (D2D) subframe configuration to communicate with one or more second wireless devices, the subframe configuration indicating one or more subframes in which to transmit a D2D signal or receive one or more D2D signals. The method also includes receiving, from the communications controller, scheduling information to transmit a first signal to the communications controller on a subframe indicated by the D2D subframe configuration. The method further includes prioritizing the transmission of the first signal over a transmission of the D2D signal or a reception of the one or more D2D signals, and transmitting the first signal.
