摘要： Naphthenic rings in naphthenic ring-containing compounds in a feedstream are selectively opened wherein at least about 50 wt. % of the ring compounds in the feedstream are characterized as containing at least one C.sub.6 ring having at least one substituent containing 3 or more carbon atoms. The naphthenic rings are opened without significant dealkylation of any pendant substituents on the ring. The feedstream, containing such compounds, is contacted with a supported catalyst containing a metal selected from Ir, Ru, or a mixture thereof, which catalyst when reacted with a feed comprised of 20 wt. % n-butylcyclohexane in heptane diluent will result in: a) at least a 10% yield of C.sub.10 paraffin yield/%C.sub.10 ring disappearance.

A feedstream containing compounds comprised of at least one C.sub.5 -ring, at least one C.sub.6 -ring, or both, is contacted, in the presence of hydrogen, with a transition metal catalyst selected from the group consisting of carbides, nitrides, oxycarbides, oxynitrides, and oxycarbonitrides. 摘要： A three stage process for producing high quality white oils, particularly food grade mineral oils from mineral oil distillates. The first reaction stage preferably employs a sulfur resistant hydrotreating catalyst and produces a product suitable for use as a high quality lubricating oil base stock. The second reaction stage preferably employs a hydrogenation/hydrodesulfurization catalyst combined with a sulfur sorbent and produces a product stream which is low in aromatics and which has substantially “nil” sulfur. The final reaction stage employs a selective hydrogenation catalyst that produces a product suitable as a food grade white oil.

摘要： Waxy feeds are converted to a basestock using a unitized mixed powdered pellet catalyst comprising a metal hydrogenation component on a support having a frist dewaxing component and a second isomerization component, wherein the first component is selected from 10 and 12 ring molecular sieves and mixtures thereof and the second component is an amorphous inorganic oxide. The first and second components are present in a ratio sufficient to promote wax isomerization and naphthene distractions without substantial decrease in VI.

摘要： A method for hydroisomerizing a waxy feed to favor one of VI or yield is described. The method uses a unitized pellet powder catalyst comprising a metal hydrogeneration component, a first catalytic component selected from 8, 10 and 12 ring moleular sieves and mixtures thereof, and a second amorphous isomerization component which is an amorphous inorganic oxide. Importantly, the ratio of feed and second components are present in a predetermined ratio to provide a preselected acidity favoring one of VI or yield resulting from the hydroisomerization.

摘要： Methods are provided for using a dewaxing catalyst formed using at least two structure directing agents for production of a lubricant base stock. For example, ZSM-48 crystals formed using multiple directing agents (and/or formulated catalysts made using such crystals) can have an increased activity and/or can provide an improved yield during catalytic production of lubricant base stocks. Additionally or alternately, ZSM-48 crystals formed using multiple directing agents (and/or formulated catalysts made using such crystals) can provide improved aromatic saturation during processing of a feed for lubricant base stock production.
