Abstract:
A process based on the combined use of yttrium and magnesium to inhibit vanadium corrosion of high temperature parts of thermal equipment. The combined use of yttrium and magnesium, applied in a variable yttrium/magnesium ratio, compared with conventional magnesium inhibition, may reduce emission of magnesium vanadate and minimize losses of performance due to fouling of the high temperature parts, including in the presence of alkali metals. Further, compared with inhibition based on yttrium alone, it may reduce the inhibition cost and reinforce the protection against combined vanadium pentoxide and sodium sulfate corrosion.

A system includes an industrial machine that includes a motor and a motor bearing. The system also includes multiple acoustic sensors disposed adjacent the industrial machine. The system further includes multiple other sensors disposed adjacent the industrial machine. The system even further includes a controller programmed to receive noise signals representative of a noise made by the motor bearing acquired by the multiple acoustic sensors, to receive signals representative of operational conditions of the industrial machine, to analyze the noise signals to determine characteristics of the noise, to analyze the characteristics of the noise utilizing the operational conditions, to compare the characteristics of the noise to a plurality of models associated with different noises made by the motor bearing that are associated with a particular abnormal operation, and to select a model from the plurality of models that matches the characteristics of the noise.

A turbine engine comprising includes at least one combustor, a liquid fuel supply system, and a fuel additive injection system. The combustor is configured to combust liquid fuel. The liquid fuel supply system is configured to channel liquid fuel through at least one fuel line to the at least one combustor. The fuel additive injection system is coupled in fluid communication with the liquid fuel supply system. The fuel additive injection system includes a recirculation circuit configured to recirculate at least a portion of liquid fuel to the liquid fuel supply system. The fuel additive injection system is configured to channel chemical additive through the recirculation circuit for mixing with the at least a portion of liquid fuel to generate an additive fuel mixture configured to inhibit coke formation in the liquid fuel supply system.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides methods and systems for using coatings to control component dimensions during operations of a mechanical system, such as gas turbine combustion air cooling system. The mechanical system may have a component with a critical dimension defined by at least one surface. Upon detecting a change in the critical dimension, such as from surface erosion, a coating additive is deployed into the mechanical system. The surface is coated with the coating additive to offset at least a portion of the change in the critical dimension.

A system according to the present disclosure can include a first lighting device configured to illuminate an area of an industrial plant; a first acoustic sensor embedded within the first lighting device and configured to detect an acoustic signature of a component in the industrial plant; a computing device communicatively connected to the first acoustic sensor and configured to evaluate a condition of the component in the industrial plant based on the acoustic signature.

A method and system for transitioning a gas turbine from burning gaseous fuel to liquid fuel and purging the liquid fuel therefrom after transfer back to the gaseous fuel are disclosed herein. The method includes pressurizing a volume of liquid fuel in an accumulator with a first volume of motive gas. A valve is opened in response to low gaseous fuel pressure in the gas turbine to permit the volume of liquid fuel to flow through a conduit to the gas turbine. A volume of flushing medium is pressurized in the accumulator with a second volume of motive gas. The valve is opened to permit at least a portion of the volume of flushing medium to flow through the conduit to flush any of the volume of liquid fuel remaining in the conduit after the gas turbine consumes the volume of liquid fuel.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide cooling systems for turbomachinery and methods of installation. In an embodiment, an apparatus of the present disclosure can include a ventilation conduit for routing a cooling air from a compressor of a power generation system to a turbine component of the power generation system; and a nozzle in fluid communication with the ventilation conduit, wherein the nozzle delivers water from a water supply into the ventilation conduit.
