    摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus comprising a display panel having a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix, signals lines for inputting a video signal to the plurality of pixels, and switching elements for selecting the pixels individually, a video decoder which decodes input compressed video data to obtain a reconstructed picture signal for each frame, a change region detector for detecting a change region between a previous frame and a current frame by using the reconstructed picture signal, to obtain address data on the change region, a display signal converter for converting the reconstructed picture signal into a display picture signal, a difference signal detector for detecting a difference signal indicating at least a difference between the previous frame and the current frame, a switch driver for selectively driving the switching elements to select the pixels corresponding to the change region in accordance with the address data, and a signal line driver for adding the difference signal and the display picture signal of the previous frame, and inputting an addition result to the signal lines.

    摘要： A video coding/decoding apparatus comprises a prediction circuit that divides an input video signal into large regions and small regions in a hierarchical fashion and produces a prediction signal by performing prediction region by region, a subtracter for generating a prediction error signal for a prediction signal at the lowest level, a DCT circuit for coding a prediction error signal, a quantization circuit and a variable-length encoder, a variable-length encoder for coding the prediction mode and motion vector information obtained at each level from the prediction circuit, and a multiplexer for multiplexing the code strings obtained from the variable-length encoder and dividing them into the upper-layer and lower-layer code strings to output the code strings obtained at the variable-length encoder particularly as upper-layer code strings.

    摘要： An image data coding system comprises a screen-area determining means for determining the area of a screen reproduced on the basis of an input image data; a code-amount assigning control means for controlling regions to which data on the screen are to be assigned and the code amount assigned to each of the regions, on the basis of the results determined on the area of the reproduced screen; and a coding means for coding the image data signal inputted in accordance with the code amount assigned to each of the regions. In an image data coding and/or decoding system, a coding system performs the two-dimensional orthogonal transform of picture signals of all the pixels with respect to inside blocks and of only picture signals of pixels contained in a content with respect to edge blocks, in accordance with a map signal indicative of the position and shape of the content, and it codes the map signal. A decoding system selects an orthogonal transform coefficient necessary to reproduce an image of a desired resolution from coded orthogonal coefficients on the basis of a coded and resolution-transformed map signal. It performs the two-dimensional inverse orthogonal transform of all the coefficients with respect to the inside blocks and of only the coefficients contained in the content with respect to the edge blocks thereby deriving a resolution-transformed regenerative signal.
