Abstract:
Tertiary phosphine oxides of the formula
WHEREIN R1 and R2 represent identical or different alkyl groups having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and R3 represents a phenyl group substituted by 1 to 5 chlorine and/or bromine atoms or the group
IN WHICH X is chlorine and/or bromine, m is 1 to 4, R4 and R5 are hydrogen or alkyl groups having from 1 to 6, carbon atoms, and in formulae I and II n is 1, 2 or 3, and a process for the preparation of the phosphine oxides named and their use as flame retarding agents.
Abstract:
Condensation products of dialkylphosphites or alkylphosphonites and phosphorus containing polyols are capable of rendering fibrous materials flame-proof or flame-retardant. The flame-proof finish is fast to washing and dry-cleaning and is effective on natural and synthetic fibrous material.
Abstract:
Y represents hydrogen or methyl and for all the other variants of Z, Y is hydrogen, methyl or lower alkyl or hydroxyalkyl and wherein X is hydrogen or an alkali metal and R3 and R4 independently from each other representing hydrogen, lower alkyl or hydroxyalkyl and R4 furthermore representing the radical (CH2)m-COOX, m being 1 to 4 and X having the above meaning, R5 representing hydrogen or methyl, and p being 2 or 3, and a process for preparing it. or
wherein Z is one of the groups -CR3R4-COOX
A complexing agent for metal ions, preferably alkaline earth metal ions, which has the general formula III
Abstract:
Phosphonic or phosphinic acid esters containing in the alcohol moiety a carbamate group are obtained by trans-esterifying an alkyl or alkenyl phosphonate or phosphinate with an alkanol carrying in terminal position a carbamate group and reacting the so-obtained phosphonate or phosphinate with a component carrying one to three active vinyl or propenyl groups, such as acrylonitrile, divinylsulfone or tris-acryloyl-hexahydro-1,3,5triazine. The products are useful for rendering fibrous materials flame-retardant or flame-proof. They may be used directly or after reacting them with formaldehyde.
