    摘要: A method for jarring allowing the operator to selectively control the jarring force while the tool is downhole and a powered bidirectional mechanical jar therefor, is disclosed. The jar includes a housing, an anvil fixed within the interior the housing, first and second hammers movably disposed within the housing at obverse sides of the anvil, first and second springs disposed to urge the hammers towards the anvil, and a rod with a radial catch that selectively engages and disengages the hammers so as move the hammers to compress the springs and thereafter release the hammers to be accelerated against the anvil. A actuator operates the catch. By controlling the movement of the rod, the spring compression and resultant jarring intensity can be controlled. A stroker tool may be provided to move the rod.

    摘要: A status of an isolation barrier can be determined by comparing data collected by a sensor below the isolation barrier to data collected by a sensor above the isolation barrier. A sensor assembly can be coupled to an isolation barrier assembly downhole from the isolation barrier assembly for collecting data related to a characteristic of the wellbore. The sensor assembly can transmit the data collected to a tool positioned up-hole from the isolation barrier. The tool can transmit the data to a surface of the wellbore. The sensor assembly can be powered by a battery pack or via a connection to a downhole tool that supplies the power to the sensor assembly. The downhole tool that receives the data from the sensor assembly (and optionally provides power to the sensor assembly) can be inserted and removed from the wellbore over the lifetime of the well.

Each scallop is a portion of the wall having a reduced thickness relative to the nominal wall thickness. The process also includes applying a selective annealing process to the perforation gun casing. The selective annealing process affects the material properties of the scallop but generally does not substantially affect the material properties of the portions of the wall having a nominal thickness.

    摘要: A multi-perforating assembly can include a housing containing a rotor. The rotor can be axially stroked by a multi-stroker tool. Upon axial movement, the rotor can cooperate with the housing to incrementally rotate. Axial movement of the rotor can cause a multi-perforating cartridge to radially pierce. Rotation of the rotor combined with piercing of the multi-perforating cartridge can enable multiple piercings to be easily and quickly performed in a single run. A multi-perforating cartridge can include a blade pivotally attached to a slider. The blade can be pulled past ports in a cartridge housing whereupon biasing springs can push the blade into the ports and a support pin can push the blade into piercing positions before pushing the blade into transitional positions, after which the blade can be biased into the subsequent port.
